Belgian-style strong golden. This Belgian inspired ale is pure evil! The result of an easy drinkability despite being nearly 8% in alcohol. Gargamel, cast a spell of delicious deception. 31 IBU.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2014 Pretty smooth considering the higher alcohol. Beautiful color when poured. I’ve had better golden ales but this was pretty good.

Newport News, Va, - Farm Fresh Market - 12 oz bottle. slightly sparkling medium gold pour, quickly diminishing white bubbly head. Aroma has some brown sugar accents, a touch of honey, a slight alcohol burn. Flavor is pleasant and hearty with some honey sweetness, a touch of Belgian candii sugar, some yeasty notes, a hint of booziness. Mouthfeel is decently thick. Nothing really jumping out and making me want to have more of this.

Bottle - Pours a clear yellow with a smallish head. Pineapple, floral and sweet bread aromas. Taste a phenolic. Not so good.

chinchill (5377) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 23, 2015
12 oz bottle. Pours clear light golden with a small and weak head. Minimal lacing. Modestly attractive aroma features both bready malts and fruity/spicy notes. The flavor follows. Light body and medium-light carbonation.

Aroma is almost perfumey, grapes, apples, pears, flowers. Taste similar but with some tart after taste that could be better integrated.

AdamT (268) - North Carolina, USA - JUN 15, 2015
12oz bottle thanks to Mom. Golden hue, normal clarity, no head, no lacing. Light floral and fruit aromas. Light fruit taste (banana) up front with more of a floral finish. Crisp mouth feel, dry finish.

ZumWohl (4) - - MAY 29, 2015 does not count
A little too fruity in the bouquet and taste, even for a Belgian. High ABV is appreciated, but that is not the reason why I couldn’t drink more than 3 of these--it’s the too-fruity taste/palate. A good beer, as most DBs are, but not my favorite offering from DB. Zum Wohl!

Luvystypotables (2099) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - MAY 23, 2015
Aroma is a little off putting, kind of foul with hints of malt. Pours a clear golden colour almost flat with no head. Tastes of malt, hints of clove and banana with a bit of a pleasant nutty finish. Light bodied with a weak finish.

Maverick34 (3393) - New York, USA - APR 23, 2015
Pours pale golden with white head. Some sweetness and fruit but fairly inoffensive....

dlovell2 (2381) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 11, 2015
Pours a hazy light yellow golden color with a white head. Aroma is lemony, citrus and spicy yeast. Flavor is a sweet light maltiness with crisp citrus, some biscuity notes. Finishes with floral, herbal hoppiness and yeast spiciness.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2015 Pours a light golden color. Smells like wheat, sweet candy corn, and lemon. You get some booze up front, then a bready earthy taste. That?s followed by a little citrus and sweetness. I really like this beer, but this batch seems more boozy than before.
