This dark ruby brown lager was recreated using a 1930’s recipe with beer historian Ron Pattinson & local beer blogger Alistair Reece. Slight hints of Caramel & toffee shine in this early English interpretation of a dark lager.

GBBF. Cask. Hazy brown beer. Small off white head. Light semi crisp palate. Smooth malt, hardly dark at all. A little plummy fruit underneath. Fine carbonation in the finish with slightly stronger dark malt. Very mild coffee in the aftertaste. Dry finish. Nicely joined up and pretty drinkable.

At GBBF 2011. Clear deep brown colour with lasting thin beige head. Its a decent coffee led dark beer. Its drinkaboe with some dark fruits and some fruit malt loaf flavours. Its fine no off or bad flavours. Hard pressed to say it was a lager. Fine.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and banana. The taste is caramel, nuts, banana, light roasted malts and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Both creamy and crisp. Nice beer.
