phukktifano (159) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 30, 2009
Clear pale gold with an aroma of sweet fruit and malt. Flavor was the same with a slightly bitter finish.

Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - APR 14, 2009
Clear pale gold. Light citric hop aroma. Flavor was clean malts, a touch of biscuit, and a citric, grapefruit hop finish. Tight and clean, nicely done. The fact that my wife ordered a pint of this as opposed to the wit is indicative of just how well done this was. Her favorite beer of the trip, and my favorite at the brewery as well.

MaltDawg (1344) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAR 30, 2009
(Sample Date: 1/17/2009 Source:Devils Backbone) Sampler at the brewery. Nice citrus/floral hop nose. Clear light golden with small white head. Low fruitiness, clean spicy hop flavor with good balance of caramel malt sweetness. Spicy bitter finish. Very good.

Braudog (6852) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - FEB 17, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2012 Took a growler of this to go -- a bright golden beer with an average head. This has a shiny citrusy hoppiness as its predominate feature. Straight down the pipe American IPA. (#3503, 2/11/2009) <<Re-rated from a bottle, June 2012 ... comments hold true; piney hoppiness a little more predominate than the citrus finish. Upgraded slightly.>>

golden and pale with a mild white head. some hop to the nose. slight malt character, a lot of hop bitteness without much in regard to hop flavor. an overly bitter version that needs greater depth to the hop flavor or malt. below average example

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2009 Served on draft at the brewery on opening day. Pours a clear light orange color. Resiny hop aroma with some citrus notes. Nice leafy hop taste with some brown sugary malt notes. Medium bodied with a
sticky texture. 6/4/8/4/14/3.6

Apparently unfiltered now? Though maniac’s the other day was clear, so maybe we had an unfiltered batch completely missed betwixt two filtered batches? A pity. Fresh growler from the brewery. Pours a clear apple-juice color with a thin head. Fresh citrus hop aroma with slight grain and some sweet floral notes. Taste is sweet malts, grapefruit, peach with a finish of bitter resiny hops. Full bodied. Quite good. 7/3/7/4/14/3.5

Another rerate of this one! This is a dry-hopped version... fresh growler from the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is very hoppy with nice bitter resin and citrus notes. Some toffee malts on the aroma as well. Bitter hoppy taste as well with lots of grapefruit and other fruity notes. Light sweet maltiness in the finish. Medium bodied. 8/3/8/4/15/3.8
