Poured from bottle.
AROMA - malt, caramel, citrus.
APPEARANCE - deep gold with big, frothy lacing head.
TASTE - bread, citrus, pear, caramel, nut, yeast.
PALATE- tart, champagne feel
OVERALL - quite good.

Rich, very clear copper coloured body with a rather large four to five centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of yeast, coriander seed, bread, a light bit of sugars and fruits and a touch more grain. Medium-bodied; Assertive bready and yeast flavours throughout with an almost assertive effervescence throughout, showing more carbonation and yeast qualities than anything else with some dry body, a bit of herbs and some smooth sugars near the finish. Aftertaste shows the yeast, a bit of the fruit, some moderate dryness and a dose of biscuity malt with coriander seed freshness at the tail end. Overall, a nice, effervescent beer with a decidedly yeast-first profile that shows dryness, a little bit of sweetness and some fruit, but more of a 'safe' characteristic throughout. Nice to sample and makes me miss the days where finding this style were much easier. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper's Food Warehouse in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-June-2017 for US$1,25 sampled at home in Washington on 12-September-2017.

How: 12 ounce bottle.
Appearance is hazy gold color, 1/4 inch head of a white color, decent retention and decent lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, Belgian yeast, alcohol, floral hops, hint of spicy hops, and strong fruity esters. Fits the style of a Biere de Garde. Palate is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level and dryness. Tastes of sweet malt, Belgian yeast, alcohol, floral hops, wine, hint of spicy hops, and strong fruity esters. Overall, average appearance, feel, blend, and body.

12oz bottle pours a clear gold with some creamy, white head. Nose has soap, candy, apricot, some white grape. Flavor is apricots, candy, something very faux, yeast, some green bell pepper, some persimmon. Finishes creamy.

Of what I’ve had, this is the best of the collaborations. Nice spicy notes on the nose and the palate and the spiciness lingers nicely for a long time. This is awesome with food, but then what biere de garde/saisons aren’t? :-)

12 oz bottle. Poured a golden yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was powerful funky, dusty barnhouse notes. Aroma was herbal malts, earthy notes. Light citrus. Flavor was a bit too effervescent. Herbal earthy notes, dusty, straw finish.

Pours hazy golden with a big creamy pure white head. Prominent Belgian yeast nose with lots of peppercorn notes. Tastes like a mild sourdough bread with white pepper crust. Thin and crisp. A bit less sweetness and more dryness than others if the style. An interesting experiment but not one I would seek out.

From the Devil’s Backbone Collaboration mix pack. Kind of orangish yellow, no head. Smells like caramel and fresh bread, and a bit peppery. Clean, hearty palate. Taste is lightly sweet, with notes of caramel and fresh bread. Touches of oak and black pepper.
