Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The nose is grainy and loaded with deeply roasted notes. The bittersweet flavor mirrors the aroma, but also offers a nice kiss of vanilla. The lengthy finish is crisp, burnt and bitter. Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm93!

12 oz bottle shared by Brian. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark bready malts, watery coffee, metallic, with a slightly vegetal note, thin, not much to get excited about.

12oz bottle, thanks to Brian M for sharing. Bottled 10.02.15. Dark brown color. Ring of khaki head. Some loose bits of lace. Up front in the nose, I get that burnt popcorn smell that I typically associate with too-old lagers. Kind of peppery, spicy in the flavor. Touch of olive, some metallic. Not good. Medium body. Kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Lighter to moderate bitter taste, lighter to moderate sweet, kind of dry. Mild bite at the back. Not impressed at all with this.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Dark brown almost black pour with a small khaki head. Roasted malts, coffee, caramel, a bit of a burnt toffee touch in the aroma. Roasted malts in the flavor, dry enough to balance the caramel and toffee aspect. Nice.

Lets make this beer official! 10th rate for this Schwartz. 12oz bottle I picked up in Fredericksburg. Pours a watery mostly opaque black with some creamy, beige head. Nose is nice, stale bread, some light smoke, a little Worcestershire sauce, malt, very light soy. Flavor is nice, more depth than the standard Schwartz, grilled meat, some mushroom, malt, brown toasted bread, some coffee, metallic tonic water, some soy. Medium bodied, dry, mostly clean finish. Really solid.
