32oz growler from Norm’s pours a murky deep brown with some lacing off white head. Nose is a bit odd for the style, the malt is there with bread crust and grist, there’s a bit of a cheap orange juice note, a little bit of candy, some light hop. Fairly mild. Flavor has chewy grains and bread, some brown sugar, more of that cheap OJ, some berry maybe or red grape. Quite muddled all around. Needs tweaking. TylerGreenDC (953) - - DEC 19, 2015
Draft. Aroma of grapefruit and, um, sweaty socks. Eww. Nice lace. Flavors of orange, pink grapefruit, cocoa and dark chocolate. Some faint mocha/coffee on the finish. A completely winning black IPA. (Rating slightly manufactured given aroma stank.) hershiser2 (3267) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - DEC 6, 2015
On tap at the brewery 12/5/15.

Draft at the brewery. Deep black. Thin cream head. Faint sweet aroma. Taste is pleasantly bitter, sweet, roasted malts. Great grainy backbone. Super quaffable. Foxbush (2030) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 25, 2015
Draft at the brewpub The IPA poured a an ink black with a frothy tan head with lacing. There was hops and roasted malts, coffee detected quickly on the nose. This is tasty Black IPA with grapefruit as a common flavor. The medium body ale had light carbonation. Sneaky bitterness builds quietly, finishing the sip with an exceptional clean, dry swallow.

Roasty coffee, woody, and chocolatey aromas. Deep, dark red-black with a mostly lasting thin tan head. Dry, roasty, bitter, savory, a touch of dried, raisiny fruit as it finishes. Medium-full bodied, pretty clean. decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAY 18, 2014
