UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 Bottled August 8 and tasted October 20. Pretty beer, nice head, perfectly clear amber color. Aroma of sweet malt, taste is more of the same with perfectly balanced hopping. Much less hoppy than SABL of course, but this is a very fine example of a Vienna. If you want a beer with some character but dont like an overdose of hops, this is a great beer for you. Had it a couple of times on draft .... OK for a Vienna, but light most of the way around.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with tall, long-lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of grassy hops and caramel and biscuit malt. Body is medium and smooth. Grassy hops and caramel malt nicely balanced on the palate. Finish is long and semidry. Nice session brew.

To the Brewers at Devils Backbone, congrats on an outstanding lager! I like this one! A little mist escapes the bottle after I pop the cap. Pours a beautiful amber color with a healthy and loud off-white head that dissipates quickly with a wee bit of lacing. Subtle bouquet of a lager and malts. Great refreshing lager taste and feel in the palate! This is an outstanding lager that goes down easy. I really enjoyed it!

Terrible in just about every way, with slack carbonation and nary a bit of foam in sight. Tastes soda-sweet, with a corn-caramel sweetness and no hops. Just a piss-poor take on the style.

Appearance: Nearly Clear Deep copper. Thin ring of white bubbles. Nose: Lightly sweet caramel malt. Slight roasted cereal and nuts. Touch of herbal hops Taste: malt forward with aspects of toasted oats, caramel and herbal hops. A touch sweet Body: medium to thinner, light carbonation Parting thoughts: This beer lacks a certain depth of character I typically associate with the style. Just a touch thin overall.
