2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 Bottled August 8 and tasted October 20. Pretty beer, nice head, perfectly clear amber color. Aroma of sweet malt, taste is more of the same with perfectly balanced hopping. Much less hoppy than SABL of course, but this is a very fine example of a Vienna. If you want a beer with some character but don’t like an overdose of hops, this is a great beer for you.
Had it a couple of times on draft .... OK for a Vienna, but light most of the way around.
Bottle. Poured clear dark amber color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. Drinkable smooth brew. willisread (3802) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 31, 2017
Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear amber with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Bready malt, toffee aromas. Clean and crisp, good tasted malt character. Standard Vienna. Rex_Remes (284) - Bonyhad, HUNGARY - DEC 24, 2017
(12oz bottle) AROMA: ok maltiness, strong lager aroma, biscuit, oats APPEARANCE: medium amber brown, ok head and residual TASTE: some sweetness, corn malt, tad roasty, caramely bread PALATE: medium light body, fresh, zippy, cleansing, slight bitter aftertaste OVERALL: a moderately heavy lager with good color, doesnt approach an ale in flavor and body but not bad, a bot simple in flavor/depth but mich better than most lagers. A good beer but overpriced for what you get. Dacrza (1068) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - DEC 22, 2017
DATE: December 22, 2017... OCCASION: final day of school before the break--feels good, getting over sickness too... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager... pours a fizzy, auburn amber body whose life can be seen as well as heard... its head is crisp, white, bubbly, and born of mad effervescent swirls... a picture of a lager... at arm's length, caramel wafts, but on closer inspection, the aroma is fruity, woody, and pleasantly soft--almost apologetic before it is welcoming... light, dry body that bares its ABV nicely and promises a sessionable profile--buttery, slightly oily... a thin finish doesn't endear it to memory... pear, apple, balsa wood, chewing gum, pine, and toasted malts keep this viable, though not the kind of flavor that will sing its praises... truth be told: I expected more, having heard much of this and suddenly finding it in multiple beer stores... not among the better in this style, but not a condemnation either... not the best in the case, either... b3shine (9259) - Indiana, USA - DEC 11, 2017
Draft to plastic taster. Looks good for the style; a pale golden amber with off-white head. Smells of lager yeast and a touch of caramel. Tastes like it smells, but maltier, and more toffee than caramel. Mouthfeel is medium light-bodied. Decent.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2017 Bottle, had at Dulles international airport. Some caramel notes, amber to orange in colour. Moderately carbonated. Taste is medium but recedes quickly - too quickly - and it becomes, sadly, a bit watery. jcr (2784) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - OCT 22, 2017
Draft. Clear amber body with a frothy white head, diminishing. Aroma of caramel, toasted grain, light bread, grass. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A bit sweet, but OK balance overall. A dark amber color with a beige head. The aroma is toasty with some caramel, biscuit, and floral notes. The flavor is rather sweet but not too much so with some caramel, toffee, and bready notes. Overall I think this is pretty good for the style. SeanCunningham (10) - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 14, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2017 From draft. Completely lacking flavor. Bland. Like watered down Alaskan Amber. How this beer won all those awards I will never understand. Goodgrief (2071) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - SEP 30, 2017
On tap. Pour was dark mahogany. Aroma of burnt biscuits. Molasses, caramel malts with a toasty biscuit. There was a medicinal off flavor that was difficult to stomach. Otherwise, it could have been enjoyable. Nice bite and rich mouthfeel.
