I had this on tap at the brewery’s taphouse. It’s a little muted, as abbey dubbels go, but not bad. Pours a dark cherry brown color, very little head. The aroma has that cherry/caramel malt/sugary thing that I associate more with dopplebocks than with dubbels. Those same Dr. Pepper like qualities are there in the flavor, too. The oak is a mild presence in the finish, but it’s subtle.

This had too much malt for me. Not a bad beer if you like malts but it was overwhelming

Kinz (3787) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - SEP 15, 2013
Draft at Mekong. Dark amber, slight head. Aroma is raisin and slight nut, hint of prune. Flavor matches. Oak isn’t overwhelming - almost absent, really only shows up as a vanilla note in the background of the flavor. Nice, subtle, well done beer.

Keg @ Sedona. Deep copper with a small head. The nose is strongly woody. Loads of caramel and vanilla. Hot rum raisin cake. Rich malts. Sticky toffee pudding. The taste is hot caramel, acidic red apple skin. Sweet Belgian yeast tang. Not nearly as woody as the nose menaced. Rich, full body, a real supper. Overall, pretty enjoyable.
