Bottle. Dark muddy brown color, good steady tan head. Spicey aroma of cinnamon, cloves and yeast. Slightly sour. Orange-spicy, yeasty flavor with smooth, sweet maltiness and some hops in the background. Mild hops in the aftertaste. Medium-bodied.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a lacing off-white head. Light sweet and fruity aroma. Flavour is mildly spiced, underlying sweetness and a mild yeasty note. Finish holds some nice sweet caramel malt flavour and a bitterness in between.

Ungstrup (38383) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - OCT 15, 2008
Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma is acidic malty combined with notes of caramel and lighter notes of spices - especially ginger. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of dust and malt, as well as a metallic note that stings the tongue. The finish is dry.

Draught (5.5%). Dark ruby/amber, almost opaque colour. Huge beige head, which also leaves some lacing. Spicy aroma with hints of hopsand some grassyness. Flavour is spicy with hints of clove. Also hints of grassiness and caramel. A bit oily palate.

Bottled (6.5%). Colour is hazy dark brownish ruby coloured, with a big foamy head. Leaves a lot of lace. Aroma is orange, spices, some slight cinnamon and yeast. Once it gets warmer the cinnamon gets strong. Also clove is present. Flavour is cinnamon and clove with some dry fruity hints. Orange, malts and some slight caramel become present once it warms up a bit. Spices in aftertaste. Xmas beer indeed. Refreshing, and lovely in my opinion. De proef -made beer, only for Finnish market (for the importers Diamond Beer). This will be bought again for Xmas, and maybe even a few bottles for aging.

Bottled. Cloudy nut brown. Medicinal spicy nose. Sweet with raw sugary mouthfeel. Lots of medicinal herbs on top of a standard de Proef golden ale with it’s banana character. Bitter wormwood-like finish.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of tbone_. Slightly hazy, orangey brown with a dense and lasting, beige head. Very spicy aroma of cinnamon and some berries. Medium body with sweetish, spicy accents of cinnamon, berries and....Christmas! Very christmasy indeed. 171207

TBone (18217) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 4, 2006
Bottled (BB 10/2008). Dark muddy brown colour, good steady tan head. Spicey aroma: cloves, cinnamon, also yeast is evident there. Medium-bodied. Very christmasy-spicey: cinnamon and clove. Nice malt profile, just enough spicey and hoppy to make this very drinkable XMas beer. Mild hops in the aftertaste. Not Swaf!-like as 4.5% version.

FatPhil (17075) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 13, 2007
330ml bottle. Not an ideal sauna beer, but we had no choice. (Tasted with Tranquility). The light aroma is welcome, but the floweriness is perhaps out of place. Odd taste, hard to categorise. Not bad, but not great either.

DSG (15237) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - AUG 9, 2008
(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. I hope this is really the version I tried. Cloudy brown with an off-white head. Sweet flavor of malt, some caramel and notes of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

Christian (13814) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2009
Hazy amber with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma with fruity and herbal notes. Sweet and herbal flavour, I sensed some rosemary.
