Is a beautiful deep amber/brown in color, reminiscent of the most noblest of not only American, but also Bristish Browns. The complex malty flavor comes from the 6 distinct grains that make up the grain bill. Add a Willamette hop finish, and you get a brew that compliments any occasion.

Ruby red color with a small fluffy off-white head. Ruddy earthen hops in the aroma with some nuttiness. Vegetal hop flavors intercede upon thin nutty and light alefruit flavors. Tinges of soil and prominent roasted nuts in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium light, slightly dry.

26 oz bottle. Clear dark brown pour with a beige head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Dark molasses and caramel flavor with a light booze finish. 6.0 ABV not well hidden. Disappointing. More like a heavy amber ale than a brown ale.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a semi-transparent brown color with a thin cap of a white semi-foamy head. Sly lace. The aroma had some caramel, chocolate, toast and nuts. The flavor definitely leaned towards the sweet side through all of the prior mentioned flavors. Muted toffee aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt appropriate as projected. Overall, decent brown ale leaning towards the English side.

Bomber from Total Wine. Pours clear brown with a giant beige head. Aroma of caramel, leaves, light chocolate. Flavor is toasted caramel, light chocolate, nuts. Fine, nothing special.

Light brown with thin head. Unusual brown ale as it is not sweet, although there is some chocolate notes. However it is over hopped, to me, for a brown. Dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"Meh. Nothing to write home about here. Standard color and body. Aroma and flavor are slightly vegetal, which just isn’t pleasant in a alty beer, otherwise this is a thoroughly average brown."

wheresyourball (575) - El Cajon, California, USA - AUG 27, 2014
Bottle from the brewpub. Brown pour with off white head. Malty, nutty aroma, with caramel. Flavor follows with a dry chocolate finish. Watery mouthfeel.

penstemon (224) - Washington, USA - JUL 12, 2014
22 oz bottle. Pours deep copper with a pillowy light tan head. Aroma is malty with a bit of tart fruitiness, milk chocolate, nuts, earthy/vegetal, hints of toffee and soap. Taste is roasty malt, chocolate, lactic sourness (infected?), some berry, light bitterness. Nice full smooth carbonation, medium body, a little watery. This may have been infected, definitely something was off here.

Pours from the bottle with a translucent but medium-dark, reddish brown color and a foamy, sand-colored head. The aroma has a light malty sweetness and maybe a little grassy bitterness. It’s pleasant, but there’s not much there. The flavor has a good bit of roast for a brown ale, with a kind of toasted walnut character, only a little bit of grainy sweetness, and a little astringency that lends to a dry finish. The fine, light carbonation contributes to a thin body, which is good since the beer could come off a bit heavy otherwise. Overall, this is a dry, nutty, and reasonably complex brown ale, but not a standard setter.

Deep brown color. Malty yet crisp and hoppy brown. More on the hoppy and crisp side of brown, as you would expect from diamond knot. Refreshing and crisp for a brown. Excellent brew.
