3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a murky brown with a medium, tan head. Malty aroma with pine or juniper and spices. Roasted malt and caramel flavor with some nuttiness. Hints of orange and spices and maybe a touch of chocolate.
22 oz bottle poured. Surprised to see this lighter in abv than the industrial version. I guess I don’t understand the series. Dark brown pour with a patchy fizz head. So much Diamond Knot IPA over the past year, it’s fun to try a very different option. Malty aroma, but quite metallic. Flavor is a dusty malt, caramel, some dark fruit, some metallic, and a dry finish. Nice warming. Bitter nutty caramel malt linger. Pretty good beer overall. luttonm (6634) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 28, 2016
22oz bottle in Seattle. Thanks Andrew for picking this up. Darker ruby-copper brown with creamy tan head. Amber-copper aroma, some alcohol but lots of heavier rich malt. Clean tasty body, a bit metallic in the scotch/amber vein, bittering chocolate malt. Creamy but plenty of fresher hop bitterness to cut it, lots of alc that sneaks up pretty well. Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. donandres (615) - Makati, PHILIPPINES - JAN 14, 2016
22 oz bottle to wine glass
Appearance: Deep red brown color medium head some lacing
Smell:not a lot of aroma
Taste: more on the bitter side
Mouth fell: Creamy and fizzy
Overall: Very good beer, but not something to look for slowrunner77 (12569) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 22, 2014
"Reminds me of a barley wine in the base. Maybe a little on the light side, but the components are there. Hides the abv well, and has some slight spice and fruitcake mixed in with the caramel malt and piney hops. Pretty mellow, but not bad." trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2014
Bomber pours a slightly hazy light brown color with a small off white head that leaves light lacing. Smells of caramel, dark fruit and bready malt. Tastes of the same things but pretty boozy. Mouthfeel is oily with good carbonation and a semi dry finish. Decent winter warmer but nothing stands out. I’ve drank aged versions and its better with age. I recommend aging it for the best flavor.

12/25/2012. 22 oz. bottle. Redbrown with an offwhite head. Spicy, bready and malty aromas. Sweet flavors, spices, hops with alcohol showing on the finish. jake65 (3982) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - DEC 30, 2013
Bottle: Light brown color with a modest beige head. Nose is malty at first, a little roast and chocolate. Some floral hops and a sweet tone. Light spices, but more malt forward with an emphasis on sweet. Same goes for the taste, but I’m picking up a separation of flavors… I can really tell where the chocolate malt ends and the 2-row begins… roasty, dark fruit, and faint spice. I’m confused… reminds me of the first time I tried Jubelale (9 or 10 years ago) so maybe I’ll come to like this over time. JDBaker11058 (2334) - Maryland, USA - DEC 20, 2013
Appearance: dark opaque brown with a thick, creamy light tan head. Aroma: caramel and light candied fruit, with a hint of toast and sugared nuts. Taste: brown sugar, caramel, molasses, toffee, with a bit of herbal/piney hops and some astringency. Finish: slightly medicinal, then a wave of toasty malts and some spice. Notes: Not bad. Not great. Shouldn’t have had so soon after Stone’s Double Bastard, as this pales by comparison. Beerdvent 2013 day 13.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a pretty clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of light spices, some fruitiness and bready notes. Flavour is cloyingly sweet, with loads of residual sugar, light spices, an syrupy malt. Way too sweet, but drinkable enough in small amounts. Okay. drpimento (3725) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Very good beer! Poured at a good temperature with a thick, light tan, thick head that slowly settled and a little lace. Color is a clear amber brown. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, toffee, a hint of hop. Flavor’s similar to nose with hop coming out a lot more, hint of sweet, just right amount of tang. Body is good although the alcohol warmth is a bit strong, great carbonation. Finish is like flavor, has a little solvent in the long lasting taper off. But good drinking brew.
