Good golden color, solid foamy head. Aroma is citrus and sweet. Body on this one is great, even after you swallow you think the beer's still in your mouth lurking. Perfect amount of sweetness for an IPA. Bitterness is present initially, but comes in strong for the finish and leaves the mouth dry. This IPA is quite hoppy, but might not be enough for some hop heads. Still I found it well balanced and very drinkable, with the 8.5% alcohol superbly hidden. For having 8.5 ABV, this hides the alcohol well. This is a big west coast IPA w/ citric nose, flavor & finish. It's a big hoppy monster. If that's your style, go for it. Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2003

The beer debouches from the 22 oz. Bomber a deep copper color with a mountainous creamy head that is a beauteous light tan in color, as it ever so slowly diminishes in size, the resultant lace forms a thick and sticky sheet of lace to meld with the glass. The dominate aroma is hops, citrus crisp, refreshing and clean to the olfactory senses, sweet malt also present, earthy, robust, a real treat this nose. Start is ambrosial, nice malt profile and the top middling to almost full in feel. “Wham, Bam, thank you hops, say the taste buds”, as the hop spiciness rouses them from their slumber with the stern acidity adding much to the crisp and refreshing feel left on the palate, very dry, and a masterpiece of the brewer’s art, certainly meant for a lover of hops, and the 8.5 percent ABV adds a touch of warming to the tummy. baobubba (454) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - SEP 8, 2003
Quite attractive hazy orange with rose and amber glints below a tall off-white (orange) head. Orange rind aroma, accented by just a subtle maltiness of caramel and bubble-gum. Spice and resin in the aroma prick the back of the nose. Beer seems smooth as bubbles fill my mouth. Earthy notes come out after first taste. Citrusy flavor then bland basic bitterness. Good brew, I wish the malts were a little more assertive and the bitterness and flavor a bit more interesting. BillKismet (4111) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 8, 2003
Hazy-orange color of sunrise with a 1' thick frothy head. Beautiful, refreshing hop aroma (cascades?). Quite hoppy with some fruitiness, this brew is fairly bitter with an occasional sour not surfacing, but quite well balanced for the potence.

Citrus aroma, a little cloudy in appears. Bitter don't taste much else. Bitter on the finish. This is good IPA, don't get me wrong, but I didn't find it the least bit unique. KingPinHead (390) - Des Moines, Washington, USA - NOV 7, 2002
Beautiful glowing honey-tinged orange color with impressive canyoned head...Aroma is extravagantly endowed with whole-hop essence and light citrus/fruity tones...One is impressed with the smooth but irresistible wave of powerful but controlled hoppiness...It builds to a crescendo and then rolls away to a slightly fruity, hop-fog finish...The alcohol leaves its warm calling card as an afterstatement...This is not one-dimensional by any means...Plenty of body beneath the all-conquering hoppy phalanx...This is one powerhouse IPA that isn't top-heavy...It has intensity and considerable weight to it, but is refined and finely balanced. This has now assumed the top spot on my IPA list---and ranks high on my overall list as well...A marvelous product! kyzr (1593) - Montana, USA - OCT 12, 2002
Holy cow! This has a warm rich color with great hop and fruit flavors. Oh by the way, watch out and don't drink too many. It'll cost you! Who am I kidding, I want more! HoppedHead (106) - seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 10, 2002
Amazing IPA, deep golden, almost amber color, extra hops add to the large flavor, bitter with great body, nice mouthfeel with lingering bite, assertive hop flavor throughout, excellent beer, one of my favorites
