DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

My first altbier. Amber colour, few head, soon disappearing. Caramel and hops in the aroma. The flavour is quite sweet (caramel and toffee) with some fruity notes (plums) and a good hoppy finish. It seems quite like an English beer with the typical German hoppy flavour. Strange, but i quite liked it.

Pours a clean copper color with medium beige head. Aroma is malty with slightly roastiness and citrusy character, but quite weak. Taste follows the nose, sweet, citrusy, with caramel/toffee and a slightly roastiness. Bitter ending to it.

Zlotta (4154) - Hagen, GERMANY - DEC 14, 2017
Sampled from 0.5 l bottle from local 'Netto', best before May 2018. Clear, dark brownish red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, light beige head. Sweetish, slightly malty and a bit grassy-spicy aroma of caramel, nuts and some straw. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, a bit malty, slightly grassy-spicy and minimally roasty taste of caramel, nuts and straw, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite dry, slightly grassy-spicy and moderately roasty finish with some metallic notes. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not that great, pretty bland overall.

Faint aroma of sulfuric notes with a minimal cardboard and bready note. Deep copper in the glass with a minimal head. Taste is nutty with some bready notes, some caramel, bit harshy sulfur. Good.

ttoadee (1665) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 17, 2017
Clear dark copper pour, medium off white head. Nose is malt Middle is caramel and moderately bitter body. Finish shows a touch of coco awash in a medium malt body.

I was brought up on Altbier and Diebels just does not match the brews from Düsseldorf. Please note: This is a highly subjective and disputable opinion. ;)

This beer was hand-pulled from a wrought-iron water pump. Tradition or fad? You decide... Pours a clear, amber-mahogany beer, with slow fine carbonation, and a creamy white head. A strong malty aroma, with notes of caramel, toffee, honey, roasted nuts, mellow pine, and a touch of iron. A smooth, medium mouthfeel. Nicer than I though it would be, but slightly lacking in interest. Nonetheless, fairly pleasant, and easy drinking.

janubio (976) - SPAIN - AUG 8, 2017
Copper colour, mediuim head and retention, good lace. Aroma of malts, caramel, grains, fruits. Medium body, light texture, average carbonation. Taste is similar to the aroma, with a dry finish.

basjansen14 (475) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2017
Copper coloured beer with a slightly off white thick head. Aroma: some hop, malty and some grass. Taste: malty, some sweetness, caramel, some tea and some bitterness. Not bad.
