Draft - Sour and lime on the nose. Clear amber with thick rich head. Surprisingly mellow, pepper adds a bit of kick but not much. Pretty bland but easy drinking.
April 13th, 2013 - I like sour ales. I like brett. But sezchuan pepper? I’m so uncultured I’ve never had sezchuan cuisine, let alone its ingredients in my beer. But the mix is curious. The aroma is is heavy with citrus and peach, with an oak edge that often appears in brett-fermented beers. Rivulets of pear juice also run in the aroma, and the light peach and pear remind me of a popular fruit flavor common in Japan, appearing in drinks and candies. I also smell something that conjures images of shredded carrot and raisin salad - tangy and sweet at the same time, but softly sugared. The flavor begins flat and surreptitious, and then rises up to a louder churning of carbonation, before fading again into a wistful blend of pear and white peach. The mouthfeel is soft across all the transformations, and gets lighter the more you consider it. The sugar is disciplined, opting for an soft, pillowy fruit sweetness that I first tasted in Unibroue’s Ephemera. The aftertaste (well after the final notes of fresh pears) tastes more like chewing on dry, granular pear skins, and is actively unpleasant. The look: Partly cloudy blond body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: Nose has a nice rustic character with a pleasant unusual peppery spiciness, the aroma reminds me of a more rustic version of Brouhaha Saison Voatsiperifery (local popular Saison). Taste also has a strong rustic character although it really didn’t feel all that Brett, more like an assertive Saison yeast presence. Clean crackery malt backbone, bright fruity notes of lemon and peaches, well integrated peppery spiciness. Finish is medium dry and with a mild citric acidity and mild tartness. Listed here as a Sour/Wild but to me this was much more a very rustic semi-wild Saison. Obviously I liked this beer a lot more than everybody else here, I would drink gallons of this fine session ale. I’ve got to say I have no idea what a Hemelse God is, I’m not much of a religious person, to me religion is some kind of elaborate book club where every week people get together to always discuss the same book.
Dégusté en fût sur place. De couleur dorée-ambrée et très légèrement voilée. Nez fruité (cerises sûres, notes de citron, traces de pommes vertes), moyen de blé sûr, léger de levures sauvages et de céréales sucrées, léger de houblon herbeux et d’épices (poivre). Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture légèrement huileuse et aux faibles notes crémeuses. Goût moyennement sûr de fruits (cerises sûres, notes de citron et de pommes vertes) avec un léger goût de levures sauvages et d’épices (poivre doux) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de blé sûr avec des notes de céréales et de pain puis en finale une très légère amertume de houblon herbeux vient se rajouter. Post-goût moyen et asséchant, composé d’un goût légèrement aigre de fruits (cerises sûres) avec des notes de blé et de houblon herbeux. (29 décembre 2012)

Pours a clear golden amber with a huge white creamy head that leaves tons of sticky lace. Aroma is sour lemon/lime with a little bit of pepper and sweet malt. Pours a deep golden and clear color with a thick, 1 in head. Strong odors of sourness with the obvious brett. smell. Cherries and plums in the nose.
Oh! sour flavor with good depth. Smells are a lot sweeter than taste. Mild and very drinkable beer. Wheatish taste.
Sounded a lot better. Couldn't find any taste of Szechuan chillies.
