On tap at DDC (Montreal). Hoppy beer, along with slight fruits. Strong bitterness with sweet malty finish. Creamy texture. Good but nothing outstanding. theGarethLewis (17) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 16, 2012
Very light and fresh on the nose - delicate. Smooth with a slight sourness. Subtle hops, very nice. rederic (3337) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 29, 2011
Slight hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a white head, with an earthy herbal, green vegetable, floral wet tobacco leaf, grassy, leafy, piney hop nose, with a faint toasted, caramel maltiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a grainy earthy toasted, caramel malt, vegetal greenish wet flowery grassy, leafy, hop character, reminiscent of some english hops, with some lime rind, piney, coniferous flavours, with a subtle almond pit raw bitterness, leading towards a fruity, zesty lemon peel, leafy, piney hop bittering finish. Appearance : Hazy amber with a nice small foamy white head. Lots of lacing.
Aroma : Great fruity hops, a bit citrusy and a bit floral. Leafy fresh hops.
Taste : Citrusy and fruity with light malt and light caramel. Very soft palate and very drinkable. Malty finish and nice fruity and citrusy hops. Surprisingly long head retention.
Overall : Great appearance especially for a cask. Nice head, long retention and nice lacing. Palate is also very nice for this cask. Overall the beer is very nice, great fresh hops, very well balanced. Nice stuff.
On cask at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a hazed orange with a large white head. Clear citrus, light pine and toast. Nice malt and light citrus. Smooth and lightly sweet. Toast and a big long grapefruit bitter finish. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 10, 2010
My Bottom Line:Lubiere (13911) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2010
Orangey, leafy hops rest atop this Pale Ale’s lovely cereals, before moving into a levelled bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is plenty of lacing to tease the hazy pale orange.
-The prickly carbonation and beautiful base malts sculpt a comfortable mouthfeel.
-The flavor profile is balanced throughout; the finish is surprisingly subtle though.
-Drinkability is optimal; this is not one of DDC’s bulky brews, even though the malts contribute plenty of their personality.
On tap at the brewpub.
A golden amber IPA with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, murky hops, herbaceous and mineral. In mouth, an intense bitter ale with good hopping, very British, herbaceous, oily mouthfeel, a bit bilous. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 16 2010. UPDATED: FEB 23, 2010 Tap at brewpub. Could have had a rotten aftertaste of allowing the Liberals to win the past Québec’s election (hey, federalists, raise your glass!)... But no, it is still a very good IPA, very smooth, medium body and carbonation, with a leafy and peppery hopping. Various discreet notes of fruits and sweetness. Very well balanced and enjoyable. It would be funny if they bottled this one, with Amir’s face on the label, maybe being kissed by Françoise David... Or by Jean Charest...
