COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2013 Kinda dissapointed. Expected a really smooth stout but this wasn’t smooth at all. Bitter coffee, dark chocolate, maybe a touch of vanilla and bourbon. Dry. Well carbonated. ------ drank this again today. Too much licourice but smoother than last time. Roasted, dry, somewhat bitter. Still not that much vanilla.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet sandefjord 2 weeks ago. Black color, good offwhite foam. High aroma intensity: cocoa nibs, vanilla, leather, dark choclate. Full body & high complexity. Some sweetness, good bitterness and balance. Very enjoyable

On tap at Muted Horn Berlin. Wow, what a beer! Comes with a deep black color and a picturesque tan head (I love those Nitro-Taps). Fine aroma of dark coffe, roated malts, nuts, vanilla, slightly cocoa. Taste is good as the nose. Lots of dark coffee and dark chocolate. Very smooth, perfectly balanced. Yeah! Love this (and it is not my favourite style!).

341ml bottle as Dieu du Ciel Aphrodite, lot 108, bought at Vinmonopolet City Nord. Crocheted lacing from a bubbly, tan-coloured head. Jet black body. Inviting cocoa aroma. Blended taste profile of cocoa powder, earthy malts and a backdrop of coffee. Vanilla chocolate hints towards the ending, nicely roasted. Fine bodied. Nice. (Bodø 20.05.2017).
