COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Opaque black, very small brownish head. Cocoa powder aroma with hints of vanilla. Cocoa powder and coffee beans in the flavor. A bit too much dark chocolate in the aftertaste for my liking.

On tap at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal. A lovely looking black beer topped by a creamy, finger-thick tan head that lasts. Nice curtains. A bit weak on the nose I think, with chocolate, vanilla and some mocha. Full to medium body, rather smooth on the palate. Chocolate, mocha and a roasted touch in the flavor, lasting for a long time. Rather lovely this one, even though the aroma could use a bit more punch. 150612

Aphrodite bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose is vanilla bean, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is vanilla bean, baker’s chocolate and cocoa powder. Some dry malt on the finish. Lots of powder. Tasty overall stout.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with a massive tan head and a ton of carbonation. S: The nose is rich and chocolate filled. Great sweet milk chocolate notes, vanilla, and a more subtle roasted character and a dark caramel note as well. T: Like the nose, plenty of sweet milk chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla. A more pronounced roasted flavor along with some slightly burnt notes. M: The body is medium with a fairly high carbonation that actually works alright. D: Not quite as good as Peche Mortel, but still nice. Definitely overcarbonated, but a vigorous pour and some time in the glass helps to smooth that out.

355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Aroma or vanilla and chocolate. Whisky or bourbon taste, and cocoa. Roast and bitter aftertaste which might give some hint of beer. Doesn’t have enough beer in it to be a stout, this is instead more of a gimmick with all its annoyingly fashionable additives.

Dedollewaitor (16176) - Odense, DENMARK - SEP 12, 2009
Bottle @ Den stive jyde fra Skive’s shop, Odense. Pours pitch black with a small creamy head and lacings. Lots of Belgium chocolate. Reminds me of Rogue chocolate stout. A bit of vanilla. Smooth and easy. Ends dry and bitter. Its good . . . But not the best stout out there!

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Thanks man! Pours really dark with a slight tan head. Really rich dark toast aroma. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smokey, toasty malt and chocolate. It is like candy, except it’s not all that sweet. Seems pretty well balanced. There’s a strange pervading flavor - think it’s vanilla. Not a problem. Whatever it is, it blends in well. Very nice. Finishes towards chocolate.

Draught at "Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival 2007". Black - offwhite head. Lots of cocoa & vanilla - Thats almost it. Light/thin body, burnes, dry (dusty), cocoa beans/powder in the aroma and taste. Medium to high complexity. It is very nice !!!
