(Rating #5309)

Draught at Mondial de la Bière 2012, June 7. Pours a cloudy copper with a spare diminishing frothy tan head. Good hoppy aroma with catty & spicy hops, backed by caramel malt. Flavour is bitter and quite hoppy, again with malt in the back. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

Tap at Volo
Aroma strong intensity. Musky, floral , citrusy tad earthy hops. Sweet with caramel feel malts. Some mango at end. Rather dry. 7+
Appearance hazed amber gold base with medium small white cap. 3+
Flavor and Palate : smooth silky texture. Medium soft bodied. Bittering hops were resinous, floral, tad pungent. Malts were on caramel side.

On tap @ DDC (Montréal). Hazy golden/amber with a small/medium spotty off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is earthy and grassy with pine and light citrus and caramel. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with earthy notes, grass, caramel, pine and a moderate to heavy bitter finish. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Average APA-IPA. Not enough aromatic hops and too much bitterness. Too much earthy notes for my liking.

In short: A generously dry-hopped golden IPA. Me love hop juice
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear burnt golden body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is very hoppy aromatic with a fresh and vibrant explosion of leafy and floral hops. There are the usual citrus and piney notes too but mainly the hop aroma is a big bouquet of juicy floral hops. Taste has plenty of toasted oily cereals, smooth liquefied caramel, fresh citrus fruits juice. Generously hopped by APA standards with resinous wooden, floral and citrusy hops. There is a lot of hops juice in there, this beer was certainly generously dry-hopped. Taste-wise this is more an IPA than an APA and that’s totally ok with me. I could drink pints and pints of this beer and then wake up the day after with a weird woman in my bed. Same as when I stay sober. My wife is weird.

Sample at dieu du ciel, lightly malty, herbal and grassy hops, strong but soft bitterness, a fine above average ipa without going crazy

On tap, as a 6.9% ipa. Darkish hazy gold pour. Earthy grassy piney hop aroma, pine needles, forest floor. A bit of caramel, malty but not overly so. Bitterness is a tad high compared to the aroma hops, slightly tongue numbing. Lively prickly carbonation. Pretty good.

Cask at the brewpub. Poured medium amber with an off white head. Aroma of heavy citrus and caramel malt. Medium body, flavour of orange, lemon, tangerine.
