Aroma is a mix of chocolate, coffee, caramel and dark malts. The flavor is caramel, chocolate, dark malts, mild/medium earthiness and an acidic/dryish finish.

Lukaduke (3090) - Gray, Maine, USA - DEC 18, 2016
Pours a deep burnt umber color with a half finger of khaki foam. Nose is soft dark cocoa, moist cake with hints of vanilla and spent coffee grounds along with lots of complex roast. Palate follows and has a gripping bitterness. Roasted grain plays the lead flavor profile and the nuances in the nose are apparent but the burnt edges and bitterness distract slightly from the complexity.

krumbum (1078) - truckee, California, USA - DEC 18, 2016
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2016 A great earthy chocolate aroma. Deep mahogany beer with awesome brown head. Smooth chocolate is joined by a stick like bitter both balanced and welcomed. So creamy the dry chocolate aftertaste is like a fine mousse.

Bottled 1/22/16 from Savor Growl: color was brown I think (drinking from hotel paper cup), tan head. aroma of burnt, licorice, roasty. tastes are nutty, chocolate, roasted malts then bitter dark chocolate, light licorice, ashy, coffee - drowned out a bit. herbal, mineral. floral bitter late. not to my tastes, but I get why people would like it.
