India Porter
Chemin de Croix’s rich roasted and chocolate flavours, made evident by its dark mocha colour, are accompanied by fruity esters resulting from the yeast. A resinous bitterness contributes to the overall dryness. Brown malt – rather than roasted malt – invokes the typical signature of the first Porters, often generously hopped for exportation to India.

September 2017 - Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza. As 'Dieu du Ciel Chemin de Croix'. Dark brown with an orange hue, foamy light brown head, dotted lacing. Aroma is coffee syrup, earthy, cold brew coffee. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is sodawater and filter coffee, quite a rich coffee character against that fizzy sodawater background, an earthy finish. A little overcarbonated I think, but very tasty nonetheless. Giving this the benefit of the doubt - would have been impressive less fizzy I think. (8-4-9-3-16=4.0)

Foffern (1982) - Bodø, NORWAY - NOV 11, 2017
Bottle at home. The colour is deep brown to black with a small light beige head. Aroma of chocolate truffles, milk chocolate, tobacco, coffee, rubber and ash. The flavour is more bitter but with sweet chocolate first and then ash, grass, nuts and very dark chocolate. Has a soft mouth feel, medium body and a medium bitterness. A both sweet and bitter porter. Tasteful and balanced.

Intense coffee, dark, toasted malts, lightly charred. Clear very dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More dark filter coffee, dark, toasted malts, dark grains, rye bread, dusty straw, soft carbonation, full bodied. Very nice Impy Porter, rich and well-balanced. Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 17, Canada Water.

Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017 - London. Pours clear reddish brown with a light, tan cream head. The nose holds moderate roast, chocolate. Moderately sweet, with some brown bread, mellow earthy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, with more brown bread, sugary cocoa. Decent overall.

Nothing wrong with this one. Well produced. Just utterly boring. Cold coffee with alcohol.
Nice transparent dark color with a fine tan head. Good lacing. Looks nice and inviting. Medium + body and a fine carbonation level. Ok balanced sweetness versus bitterness. Flavor: cold coffee.

Scopey (15663) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 28, 2017
Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty grain, coffee, wood, toasted nut, brown bread and leather. The taste is dry, toasty, wood, earth, leather, spice, coffee grounds, brown bread, sweaty, leather, ash and some charred notes with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad, but I can’t appreciate the reason for very high ratings for this overall.
