Draught - weizen glass. An interesting change, and not completely unwelcome, but it falls well short of being overwhelming. BitchesBrew (716) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 19, 2007
[5 oz. sample @ Brewpub] Hazy, light amber color. Off white head leaves moderate lacing on the glass. Black licorice and faint hop aroma. Strong Anise flavors with a malty background. Anise really shines through in the finish, with a bit of subtle spiciness. A really unique beer-- though I’m not much of a fan of Anise/licorice, this still remains quite drinkable. GonZoBeeR (3061) - ste-catherine, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 12, 2007

This was a great surprise. At first sip you taste the anise and may I say, it was great refreshing. They really hit it on the nose with this one. You never lose when you go to Dieu du Ciel. rederic (3337) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 14, 2006
Hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a white head, yeasty, caramelized malt, with a subtle anise spiciness, trying to emerge in the aroma, follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a nice predominating anise spiciness charecter, with a hint of black pepper and liquorice accent, yeasty note, leading towards a faintly anise and hop bitterness finish. Lubiere (13915) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 12, 2004
Hazy amber with anisette nose. Very rich malt taste, with slightly lactic notes. Good hoips with a nice creamy body. Nutmeg aroma as beer warms up. Eructoblaster (4205) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 9, 2004
Flat dark gold/orange body topped with an average, diminishing, white, and foamy head. Aroma is, of course, dominated by anise, but we can also detect some other flowery hints. Taste is well balanced, as the anise flavors are not agressing. Carbonation is soft, and texture is creamy. It ends with a decent bitter finish. PrimeMinister (138) - Quebec, CANADA - NOV 4, 2004
If you don’t like anise, you won’t like this beer but as I love it, judging the beer was somewhat of a challenge. I was expecting a powerful anise taste right from the beginning but this was proved false as the anise was somewhat shy and well balanced with a fast fading bitterness. The texture was somewhat creamy which proved interesting but the finish was a bit disappointing (too short). This beer could be worked on and become a great product!
