COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Alt is a classic German ale from the Dsseldorf region. It has dark copper colours which can be reminiscent of English Pale Ales. By using a different type of yeast, the aromas are less fruity and more neutral than a pale ale. The use of different types of malt also gives the beer a less caramel flavour than the English ales. To taste, the beer is mildly bitter and has fresh cereal flavours.

On tap at the brewpub. Very pretty clear copper pour with thin white head. Aroma is rich and toasty, tons of beautiful malt notes, great toasted bread aroma, light underlying caramel, just a hint of black pepper, the aroma carried me right back to Dsseldorf for a second. Taste is quite good as well, smooth rounded malty bitterness, mellow toasted notes. Palate is light-med bodied and quite satisfying. Tasty stuff.

Draft at DdC with Streets, Ricky, Andrew, PJ and Brendan. Pours a hazy brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is light caramel malt - but overall somewhat bland. Mouthfeel is okay with notes of caramel malt, spice and light smoked wood character. Decent.

On tap at brewpub. A clear bronzeish amber with a nice white head that leaves a great lacing. Smell is caramel, taste is caramel, very sweet. Lots of herbal hops, very sharp. Medium body, average carbonation. Very good.

[email protected] - quite clear reddish beer with a long lasting fine beige head; nice lacework; subtle aromatic hoppiness with notes of earth; creamy palate; medium-bodied; a late earthy bitterness; very long aftertaste with lingering hoppy tones and earthy notes

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a dark ruby tinged brown, head receeded to a decent cream ring. Aroma of subtle sweet cereal, Czech hops. Taste is biscuit, some fruity notes. Pleasing finish. Pretty good.

Draught, 5.4% at the brewpub. Nutty aroma, hint of sour rag. Almost clear dark amber colour. Creamy tan head. The flavour is roasted with a rough bitterness. OK mouthfeel.
