The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt and mocha. Taste has smooth chocolate, umami soy, licorice, roasted malt, caramel and some mocha. Bitter malty finish. Nice classic ris.

Schwarz mit durchschnittlicher, bräunlicher Schaumkrone. Röstmalzig, leicht verbrannt, Asche, etwas Vanille, Karamell, dunkle Schokolade, stark, im Abgang bitter.

Flaska från Systembolaget:
Svart med stort, tjockt skum. Rostad doft med inslag av kex, kaffe och saltlakrits. Känns mjuk och len i munnen. Smakar rostad malt och lakrits. Värmande, lite kärv avslutning.

Shit this is good. Although it could still be a bit stronger, the aroma is so durable and deliciously smokey. The alcohol goes almost unnoticed, and it''s creamy, bittersweet, umami as fuck if I even know what that is. Leaves me thirsty for more, which doesn't happen too often on this style. As delicious as anything that Dieu du Ciel brews.

Pours thick, oily black with tiny, beige head. Aroma is heavy chocolate, caramel and roast. Taste start dark chocolate and light toffee, moving to heavy roast and strong hop backbone. Finish is slightly bitter hoppiness, mixed with roast. A good imperial stout.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2018 dark, small head. Insanely bitter and roasty, shy. It covers all the rest. Nice body though.

Bottle, 355 ml, shared with JFK10000 and Max. Dark brown, medium light brown head. Alcohol in aroma, less in taste. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, sweet, nice bitter finish. Nice oily. Medium+ bodied. Would be way better without so alcohol present in aroma.

karpik (1621) - Sosnowiec, POLAND - FEB 28, 2018
Coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, licorice, some alcohol in nose. Pours black with tan head. Taste is medium sweet to medium dry with coffee, roasted malts, pralines, chocolate and licorice. Medium bitter finish with some booze, soft carbonation, average to full body. Overall very good classic roasty Impy.
