COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

341 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of oily black coffee, licorice, dry dark chocolate, and heavily roasted malts. Flavors of creamy black coffee, very dark dry chocolate, light vanilla, light chicory, and more roasted malts. Very nice balance; a little dry but also a little sweet.

Bottle: Pours black with a light brown head. Smoky, dark chocolate/fudge, vanilla cream aroma. Dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, coffee roast, vanilla flavor. Chewy, creamy....with a big, ashy-bitter finish. Really smoothly done. I could enjoy one of these almost everyday....Excellent.

[7890-20151025] Cask. Roasted grains and chocolate coffee aroma. Black cola body with a quick bubbly off-white head. Coffee chocolate roasted grains flavour. Full body. The dregs of the keg but still delicious. (8/3/8/4/15) 3.8

A handsome sight this monster of a beer is, black as pitch, boasting a creamy tan head with staying power. Comparing this fine ale to a smoked mocha would be the best comparison I could make. Acceptably boozy, bold and syrupy, the Noirceur finishes bittersweet with a smokey roast character that is relentless to say the least. I feel as if I will be tasting this beer for years to come. Also, potentially the creepiest and most disconcerting label in recent memory.

Pretty strong boozy aroma, also sweet -- kind of roasty caramel. Super-dark appearance. Tastes kind of sweet, touch of bitter, very smooth -- lots of coffee and dark chocolate tastes. A very wonderful beer.
