COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

341 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch-black with a large mocha head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits and tar. Taste reflects the aroma, but not as flavorful. Medium to full-bodied. Medium to high bitterness. Medium carbonation.

Released today, March 4-2016, at #Systembolaget, Sweden.

I pour the beer at almost room temperature because I think I get tho most out of the stout then.

It is pure black with a huge, more than three finger high, mocca-colored head that leaves just a little bit of lacing on the glass.

Nose: Oh... this is beautiful! Dark chocolate, molasse, brown sugar, vanilla, ash, roasted malt, dark bread and some oak.
Taste: A lot of sweetness and a bunch of bittersweet, dark chocolate! Coffee, roasted malt, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, cocoa and dark roasted coffe.
Mouthfeel: Strange... It IS a full body but still so light!? Light carbonation. Heavy, thick bitterness that stays in my mouth, back at my tongue forever!
Creamy and smooth - It just begs me for another sip...

Tap at barhop. Pours a dark brown/black with a tight tan head. Good looking beer. Aroma is light soy, treacle, rum... Medium to full body, light to medium carbonation. Some meaty teriyaki stuff, light soy sauce, prunes, raisins, rum, light blackcurrant, ash, toast, charry stuff, espresso, treacle, some red wine, dark choc, something salty... Loads going on. Well balanced. Tasty stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours an oily, stouty brownish-black, opaque with a thin espresso colored head with little in the way of retention. Nose is heavy on the roast, touch of smoke, some cocoa, slight diacetyl noticeable. Mouth is slick and oily, full of roasted barley, mild sweetness gets a bit overshadowed buy a sooty bitterness, underlying hints of cocoa, vanilla and French roast coffee, dries out towards the finish and followed by a bit of the ABV warmth. Looking at the composite score and some of these reviews, Im curious to whether perhaps I got an old or bad bottle... because otherwise my feelings about this beer can be summed up in one word: Underwhelmed.

Appearance: unrelieved opaque black, one finger of creamy light beige head, moderate retention and lacing. (4/5) Aroma: dark roasty malt, coffee and bitter chocolate, lightly ashy. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate-low carbonation, dry mildly bitter finish. (4/5) Quite dry for the style, with low sweetness. Surprisingly non-existent alcohol presence given the moderately high ABV. One of my big problems with Imperial Stouts is the tendency to very high sweetness, making them syrupy and cloying, but this thing is very well-behaved. (16/20)

Bottle. Wood, dark chocolate, raisin, toasted barley malt, and ash aroma. Opaque black with small head. Sweet earthy/smoky wood, prune, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter herbal/ashy flavor. Nice body. Great flavor.

Trs bien.
