The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Made a good first impression, although not a big fan of imperial stout, savoury.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2017 341ml bottle purchased at Depanneur As by Dieu du Ciel in Montreal, Quebec Very good!

dorain (754) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUL 18, 2017

Draft glass @ CML Fontainas. Black, soapy mocha head, largely solid. Nose is overly umami, cacao, licorice, mocha. Heavy umami, licorice body with heavy vegetable coffee, bitter roast,.. Body is licorice, umami, cacao,... Interesting to try a Dieu du Ciel classic with a cool name but I found it far too licorice heavy for my preference with strong vegetable coffee,... Not my thing unlike expected.

GIJOE (1260) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - JUN 12, 2017
Pours black with a monstrous brown head. Nose is char, dark-roasted malt, coffee. Hints of licorice, leather, and tobacco. Taste is quite bitter, although balanced somewhat by a burly malt component. Long bitter chocolate finish. Impressive brew.

stupre (538) - Nanterre, FRANCE - JUN 10, 2017
33cl bottle purchased @ La caisse de bières. Belle robe noire brillante avec une fine mousse brune. Attaque sur le grain de café avec un final tout en amertume. Sécheresse prononcée sur la fin. DLC dépassée depuis 8 mois.

rumore (947) - Rimini, ITALY - MAY 10, 2017
From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with brownish foam. Aroma is hazelnut, light coffee notes, a fruity note. Body is medium-dense. Taste is predominantly bitter and roasted, though there’s a little of underlying sweetness. Finish is long and roasted/bitter.

Korcz (3388) - Warsaw, POLAND - MAY 1, 2017
Mocne zielone jabłko, sporo alkoholu, dość kremowe, dużo winnych klimatów, wysoka paloność, ściągający nieco finisz.

Mesjasz (1725) - Lodz, POLAND - MAY 1, 2017
Sampel butelki w Chmielarni. Aromat i smak mocno palony, kawowy, dosyć gorzkie, średnio wytrawne.

Rami Rami is drinking a Grande Noirceur by Brasserie Dieu du Ciel! at Chmielarnia Marszałkowska Dziwne, zjebane w aromacie (za swieze), bardzo popiolowe w ustach, milo pelne, po wylezakowaniu mogloby byc faktycznie bdb, teraz tylko ciek
Rami Rami: Mocno kawowe i palone
