The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Bottle: Black with a dark tan head. Sweet choco aroma but the flavor is robust and full of charcoal. Solid brew!

Black pour with dark brown head. Lots of milk chocolate and some fresh liquorice on the aroma. Taste starts malt with some liquorice, more roasty with lots of coffee on the finish. Really soft mouthfeel, velvety smooth. Overall this was a really nice surprise.

Bottle from a trade with sneakychi, many thanks! Pitch black color with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, a bit boozy, liquorice. Taste is liquorice, lots of liquorice, black chocolate, ethereal, minty. Low carbonation, feels quite light in fact, but still full bodied. Very good for what it is, but a bit too ethereal for me to be a real winner.

Man what an awesome impy. Aroma was deep dark chocolate with heavy black licorice. Pour was a jet black with a thin tan film for a head. Taste was awesome. So much more complex than he imperial stouts Ive had recently. Caramel, dark chocolate and toffee were big and bold on the tongue. Malty milk chocolate and black licorice lingered in the finish. So many flavors going on in this beer. Medium carbonation.

Bottle pour opaque black with minimal tan head. Nose dark roast coffee and dark red fruit. Taste almost smokey up front, then dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, and light bitterness. Smokey and roasted flavors through the finish.

340 ml. bottled 2015-10-29. Pour is deep ebony with a brown-sugary film of foam. Aroma of espresso, cocoa, soy, caramel, fig and smoked meat. Flavors of espresso, soy, caramel, lactose, dates, smoked meat and char. Medium-heavy body has a dangerously drinkable balance with lots of complex, smoky notes and a right-on medium carbonation.

Svart och nästan lite trög. Mycket trevlig med en djup och intensiv smak med kaffe och choklad. Vacker och välsmakande ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home its been years since I had a Dieu du Ciel rate. Ink black pour. Nose is caramel and molasses. Tastes of molasses, caramel, espresso, ink, And soy sauce. Rich bodied and thick, not particularly sweet which always appreciated with this style.
