COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Draft @ DDC. Incredible look that i actually had to take a picture... best description i can give is like if there was dark clouds leading to the very creamy brown head... Great lacing as well.... Presentation A1. Aromas of dates, licorice, black cherries, alcohol, candy, roasted malts and hints of liquid smoke. Palate is extraordinarily and amazingly creamy and well balanced. Thick body... did i say creamy? Flavors are farely sweet and alcohol... simply amazing!

Espresso malt bitter coffee awesomeness. This is a great beer would be interested to try it barrel aged. Picked it up at Bières Du Monde in Aylmer

Fantastic stout. Just purchased at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. They just arrived. In line with most stouts. Has a light foam but is rich in taste.

Pours black with a small tan / light brown head. Aroma is very roasted, some bittersweet chocolate and chalky, coal-like notes. Flavour is heavily roasted, with loads of chocolate malt, some wood, oats, but the chocolate and roast dominate this one. Very robust and uncompromising, without being brutal in any way. Excellent stuff.

Black with dark brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and caramel. Perfectly balanced malt sweetness and coffee biterness. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Fantastic brew!

Bottle from State Line. Pours thick and black, and I will save the "that’s what she said" joke. A small brown head that laces well is also apparent. Nose is an intense medley of hazelnut, cacao, vanilla, graham cracker, dark malt, prune. Tastes rich, very complex, very thick, and very smooth. There is charred dark malt coffee oil, and dark choc up front, with mid-palate lactic oats, vanilla, nuts, and blackberry. Some finishing hops and more blackberry and mild tartness round things out. This one is world class.

Pretty strong boozy aroma, also sweet -- kind of roasty caramel. Super-dark appearance. Tastes kind of sweet, touch of bitter, very smooth -- lots of coffee and dark chocolate tastes. A very wonderful beer.

Excellent.

341ml bottle. Pours an average size foamy head and a pitch black colour. Some sediments on the way out of bottle into glass were noticeable. Has some roasted malt aromas as well as mild spices and notes of caramel and vanilla. The flavours are plentiful with coffee, dark roasted malts and chocolate the main taste. There are also hints of barley, caramel, toffee. Many flavours! Pretty lively mouthfeel, some bitterness but quite inoffensive. Little bit bitter aftertaste. And the alcohol is well hidden, this being a 9%abv brew. Very good. Dieu du Ciel hardly ever disappoints.
