The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Tap at BarHop. Deep black pour with a fast fading tan head. The aroma is lovely. Very big and roasty with a lot of dry chocolate character and a little bit of salted/savory malt. Intensely salty and rich with a heavy roasted component. It’s intense - but it’s not really the type of Impy Stout that gets me going.

Bottle from Vinmonopolets BU. Pour close to black. Roasted malt, coffee, caramel, some citrus. Bitter. Full, oily body. Soft to medium carbonation. Very good.

Mindwarp (323) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 24, 2017
Pours black with a thin tan head. There isn't much of an aroma maybe a sweet chocolate but really faint. Taste is somewhat boozy which is odd for a 9% stout. At first I thought I tasted a real bitter dark chocolate but that seems to be gone. Overall an ok stout but nothing special.

bottle - Black pour with almost no head. It has a rich, malty, roasty, chocolate aroma. The flavor is sweet with roast malt, chocolate, and coffee with some hops bitterness that balances the finish nicely. Full bodied. Excellent.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2017 Caña en el Lúpulo Oviedo 05..12..2017. (r554). Color negro intenso con espuma beige oscuro persistente. Sabores intensos maltosos con toques caramelizados, ligeros dulces maltosos tostados. Alicorados. Cacaos y vainillas al calentar, ganando también en densidad. Cuerpo medio no muy denso, fino y fácil de beber. Bastante buena para repetir.

11.5floz bottle, no date (notches supposedly indicate batch #05), paid the sale price $1.50 for a a single. Poured into a nonic glass, where it's near black in color and has thin head that is medium brown in color. Boozy molasses aroma upfront gives way to dark chocolate as it opens up. Noted flavors include dark roast coffee and brown sugar. Overall, words can described this beer as robust, slick, oily, full-bodied, filling, well roasted. Good.

Torrefacto (1792) - Madrid, SPAIN - NOV 24, 2017
Avellana, chocolate, rustidos, café. Sedosa en en boca con gran equilibrio entre el inicio de avellana y chocolate y el final de amargor quemado.

kaserov (1108) - Oviedo, SPAIN - NOV 12, 2017

Jabic (735) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - NOV 10, 2017
Draught at Montreal pub. Ar: burnt caramel and dark chocolate; deeply toasted malt; a little cherry. Ap: black and opaque; medium light-mocha head with excellent retention, leaving a medium-small cap of solid foam. T: cocoa powder and coffee with clean booze; some burnt caramel; quite clean; a little cherry and biscuit; bitterness is medium and smooth. P: medium body with medium carbonation; medium-dry finish. O: a well-made imperial stout; not terribly complex, but east to drink, and sufficiently Rich and warming.
