Dull light amber...no head for some reason. Touch appley, with some vaguely bready malts. Too appley, touch of tartness, malts not coming through well.

Draft - Light soft grainy notes. Clear gold with a rich white head. Grains and some light bitterness. Soft and creamy but not that interesting.

Lubiere (14110) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 25, 2011
A beautiful blonde yellow helles with a lacing thin white head. In aroma, light chalky malt with faint butterscotch. In mouth, a crisp biscuitty malt with nice czech hops, light sweetness, refreshing. On tap at Mondiale 2011, June 12 2011.

@Mondial de la Bière 2012, Montreal - hazy pale blond beer with a persistent white foam; hints of diacetyl, corn and aromatic hops; medium-bodied; moderate carbonation and pretty rounded; low bitterness; very aromatic with hints of diacetyl

Sammy (12491) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 15, 2011
On tap at Mondiale 2011. Pilsner like beer, European malts, perhaps Saaz hops. A nice helles, good drinkability that got lost in the rush to the big bold beers. Straw coloured body, little head. Still a nice one.

2012-06-08. Dark yellow body with a small white head. Pale malt, light alcohol, mild cereally grain character. 6+ Flavour is similar, cereally pale malt, very light bitterness, light alcohol presence. 6+ Average plus bodied palate. Okay. It is a pretty decent example of a style I am not overly fond of. On tap at Mondial, Montreal

My Bottom Line :
This Helles’s gorgeous malt flavors seduce from aroma to aftertaste, as peppery, herbal hops spike the frothy fullness of the mouthfeel. This is as great as their Basse Messe Kölsch!

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy head of foam laces atop the pale golden.
-The long pils malt flavors are truly inspiring. The relative dryness of the mouthfeel makes them all the more impressive.
-The carbonation may be pricklier than an authentic Bavarian Helles, but the palate is still supremely comfortable. Why look for perfect authenticity when you can create something impressive on your own, eh?
-The only Helles I could compare this too is Friedel Zentbechhofen’s Vollbier Hell which is also force-carbonated, quite dry throughout, and generous in its hop flavors.
-This has enough character to stay pleasant from the beginning of the pint to the very last drop.
-This is never going to get some love on a site like Ratebeer where intensity reigns supreme, but if you are looking for a great session lager in the northeast, you will have trouble finding better!

On tap at the brewpub.

[4479-20120608] Tap. Dry toasted cornbread aroma. Clear, golden yellow body with a quick foamy white head. Corn mash flavour. Medium body. Not really a fan, it’s kind of gross. (6/3/4/2/8-) 2.3

blankboy (7735) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 4, 2012
Draught at Mondial de la Bière 2012, June 8. Pours a clear pale gold with a small lasting frothy white head. Aroma is slightly vegetal (in a good way -- peas?), a bit herbal, a bit tart and grassy. Refreshing flavour of pale malt, citrus fruit, herbs and light hops. Average to medium bodied. Nothing out of this world, just nice palate cleanser and a joy to drink.
