czar (9250) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 29, 2016
on tap at ddc montreal brewpub. almost clear bright gold pour, orange-red tint, with a thin yet reviving white head offering minimal retention and lacing. cider, phenolic apples, peppery pears, subtle fun pink pepper, zesty citrus, hint of sweetness - unfermented rye and spicy honey, chalk. bright, healthy and almost foamy carbonation, light body, relatively dry and crisp spicy-citrusy finish. this stuff a couple notches more attenuated could be very fun.

Kauge (1987) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 9, 2016
Tap at DDC. Light amber with good off-white head, clearish. Spicy and citric, even a bit caramelly character. Really crisp, thin but zingy carbonation. Alright, good even, but I guess I just prefer my Saisons without rye.

Sample @Brew pub. Aroma: earthy lemon, wheat, nutmeg. App: cloudy light golden, minimal white head, good lacing, even in this shall glass. Taste and palate: medium body, ragged, light sweetness, moderate carbonation, light bitter finish. Overall: a good standard saison. Nothing over the top.

Backlog rating. Keg at BD Camden tap takeover. It pours a amber color with a small white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, with notes of hay, spices, grass, caramel, citrus peel. Taste is quite sweet and spicy again with notes of toffee, citrus peel, grains, hay and citrus. Finishes lightly dry ad spicy. Medium body with sticky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Overall, quite tasty but far from a traditional saison
