341ml Bottle from Halles St-Jean. Aroma: citrus, roasted malt, chocolate cake. App: pitch black with medium brown head and great lacing. Taste and palate: full body, creamy, smooth, light sweetness and light bitter finish. Overall: great balance between the sweetness and bitterness. for some reason I didn?t rate the previous batch but this one is quite awesome. Highly drinkable. A 4 pack might not be enough to last a year without with. Will grab some now. As always great job DDC.

Nez: Malt torréfié, agrumes, fruits noirs Bouche: Café, chocolat, fruits noirs, notes d’agrumes, vineuse, belle rondeur, finale sèche Elle emplit la bouche très longuement. Quelle complexité ! Une bière d’excellence.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Poured with a huge head, there is definitely brettanomyces at work here. The aroma is chocolate, cherry, dusty, estery. The flavor is chocolate, cherries, almond, burnt sugar, ashy. This is better than I expected.

Bottle gifted from the right honourable Hippyhop -- thanks, man! Pours like a muscular imperial stout into the glass, oil leak black with a rocky mocha cap. I could smell the saison yeast as it poured out of the bottle & gurgled into the glass, hinting that this was not going to be a ’normal’ drinking experience. In fact, I love the border blur of styles that is at play here: sour cocktail cherries, yeasty funk, roasted grains, boozy warmth goodness, overripe blackberries, wet pipe tobacco & soy sauce. Most interesting is the three act arc of the sip: starting with an imperial stout mouthfeel to a prickly saison middle & a conclusion that trails off into a dry, roasted finish. There’s a lot of moving parts here & it --along with the 9.5% kick -- forces you to enjoy this as a slow sipper. Great stuff.

Bottle @ ZEBF 2015. Aroma of roasted malt and hop. Taste is surprisingly soft, with grassy hop and roasted malt and coffee. Like a strong dark saison. Nice.

Creamy port wine and coffee while you’re drinking, then more chocolatey aftertaste but still with a hint of port.

Aroma: The smell is full of caramel malty aromas, burnt toast and coffee beans.
Appearance: The brew is very black, especially for a saison, the head is brown and leaves good lacing.
Taste: The taste is rather sweet, a bit licorice, dried fruits, figs and dates, strong wine, Madeira and Sherry.
Palate: A light carbonation, a bit syrup and alcoholic feeling, but very smooth.
Overall: Don’t know if their style assignment is correct "Imperial Dark Saison", anyway a very good after-dinner beer.
Note: On-tap at Dieu Du Ciel in Montreal. Reviewed 2010-09-14.

Dark brown color with thick, brown head that has plenty of lacing. Has scent and taste of chocolate with floral notes. Thick and rich mouth feel.
