neongolden (1854) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2016
Aroma is sweet and lightly tart, with tangerine, apricot, citrus peel, bubblegum, leafy hops, some herbal phenolics and light spice, wheat cracker. Flavour is semi-sweet at first and some citrusy acidity for balance, with dried apricots, preserved peach, orange and grapefruit juice, orange peel, light bubblegum esters, herbal hops, white pepper, white bread. Finish is quite dry with some warming alcohol, citrus pith and herbal bitterness, some peppery spice too. Aftertaste slightly astringent and a bit boozy. Medium-full body with soft creamy carbonation. Perhaps the hops are a touch faded but it still comes across as a fruity new world-influenced tripel, with hoppy notes merging well with those from the yeast.

Hazy golden/orange with a medium head.
Sweetish, peppery aroma.
Slightly alcoholic.
Sweet oranges, overripe plums and spicies in the flavour.

Bottle from Systembolaget.

Hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of orange, light spices and some malt. Similar taste. The body was medium and the finish on the dry side. A pleasant one.

Bottle in wine glass. Now this is a tripel to my liking! What an absolutely amazing brew. Pours wonderful in a light orange have with a perfect finger thick head. Aroma is like a sack of fruits in the face that follows on the palate with great adds of hops and perfect viscosity. Thanks!

Bottle @home. Pours hazy yellow with lacy white head. Nice and fresh aroma, like a classic belgium beer with more hops and citrus. The taste reflects the aroma. Presence of yeast and refreshing taste of citrus and hops. Good biterness in the finish. Very good stuff.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy pale golden, small head. Peppery nose with tangerine, dill and marzipan. Dryish with medium body and crisp, rounded mouthfeel. Peppery and elegant, citrus and marzipan. Long bitter finish. Another excellent crossover between North American and European brewing styles from Dieu du Ciel!

@ Basunen 16-7-23: Rätt ok med toner av cirtus, frsmföralt apelsin. Trevlig fyllighet med en liten hetta i eftersmaken.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy apricot with a big frothy fluffy goldenish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of thick sticky trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and tiny spicy with crackers, white bread, baked pears, canned peaches, tangerines, grapefruit juice, moist grass, dry soil, white pepper corns, orange zest and hints of alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, fruity and spicy. Mouthfeel is round, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with grapefruit, yellow tropical fruits, white pepper corns and alcohol. Bottled in March and I suspect this would have been even better back then. That aside the hops still provide plenty of fruit. Bit bitter and boozy perhaps but fighting off the last of a summer cold this was perfect to awaken your senses. Cool blend between triple and IIPA. Reminds me a lot of that Chouffe beer...
