Hazy blond; slightly earthy, husky aroma; crisp bitterness in the back, but this quickly dissipates. Almost crunchy. Fresh malt note in the finish. Not to style. Lubiere (14341) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 27, 2005
Yellow kolsch with a creamy white head. Light malt and hops. Crisp refreshing biscuitty malt with light floral hops in finish. Good honest beer. jercraigs (11166) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 21, 2005
Very clear yellow, nice small but billowy white head. Sweet malt some kind of vague fruitwith subdued hops that seem appropriate if not stimulating. Mellow and subtle bitterness.Slight floral buttercup in the aftertaste. Very mild muted aroma. Quaffable but decidedly dainty. Not the beer I was dreaming about as we walked up St. Laurent in the cold, but ya rolls yer dice ya takes yer chances. MartinT (10239) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 16, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 12, 2005 Citrus drops gently falling on a lofty lactic and bitter ground...An earthy cereal undertow lifts the soft hop/malt balance to cover it soon again...Very quenching as should be, and very well-brewed as usual for DDC... Radek Kliber (7501) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - MAR 31, 2003
Initial big head. Aroma was a bit unusual for Kolsch but other than that nice. Light with VEREY nice touch, not sure how to describe. To make a proper good Kolsch beer is very hard. Brew master is trying its best, point for that.

(Draught) This was a strange beer. It carried few physical properties of the Kolsch style I recognize. It was much darker, uncarbonated and has a stronger maltiness. I didn’t find it terribly crisp and it was mostly flat. Initially it poured a creamy thin head. It was rather smokey in the room - perhaps I’ll try this again. muzzlehatch (4976) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 31, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2004 March 2003: This didn’t work for me, but I must say that I haven’t had a good (proper?) kolsch yet, so take it with a grain of salt. Honey-lemony, thin, I can’t get a handle on it. Somewhat bland. 5/3/5/3/11 2.7
tiggmtl (4543) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 9, 2003
December 2004, accompanied by the mysterious tiggmtl. Very clear bright gold, bit of thick head with some lace...light clean grainy nose, fresh, leafy hop flavors mixing with a hefty but balanced maltiness...touches of caramel and rosemary. Since my last rating this has become a favorite style, and Malchance is an excellent example.
Citrusy clean hop aroma. Very clear pale colour with a finger of dense head and good lacing. Mild nutty maltiness is a wonderful platform for the hop flavour and a lingering fruitiness. This is nicely balanced. Silky smooth mouthfeel and medium body. This new batch is definitely to style and tastes wonderful. On tap. Eructoblaster (4519) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 29, 2004
Limpid golden body topped with a lasting white foamy head. Fair hoppy aroma with herbal notes. Good hoppy taste with bready notes and an adequately bitter finish. Good refreshing Kölsch. DYCSoccer17 (3719) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 23, 2005
Draft at brewpub. Grassy, light, bitter-hoppy Pils-like aroma with some Saaz notes. Relatively faint aroma. Transparent golden color with a frothy white head with nice staying-power. Tangy, spicy, and almost lemon-like citric flavors to start. Turns sweeter and maltier with biscuit notes to finish.
