On tap at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a somewhat murky brown with a thin beige head. Big on the nose, full of sesame oil, roast, and chocolate. My wife gets notes of barley tea and grains. Medium bodied, lots of roast and sesame and toasted grain. This is gorgeous. Super flavorful, tons of body, great mouthfeel, and a fairly low ABV. Easy drinking and something you could drink all night. Long roast and more of that sesame and toasted barley note into the finish. DYCSoccer17 (3696) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 21, 2012
Sampled at the brewpub from my brother’s order. Roasty chocolate notes are present in the nose, with some wheat and clove character, too. Pretty nice. Mildly transparent dark mahogany body with a creamy light tan head present. Good lacing. Starts with some chocolate sweetness and light roastiness as well. The middle has some wheat and banana esters present. Full-bodied. Finishes smooth, with a lingering sweet chocolate flavor. Not a huge fan of the yeasty esters. They seem a little overpowering. Drank on tap (4 oz) at the Montreal brewpub on November 11, 2012. Dark brown, small head. Malted barley aroma, a little sweet chocolate. Taste of roasted barley, a little sweet, bitter malted grain. Very drinkable!
