Paienne is a top-fermenting June straw blond coloured beer. It presents aromas of malt, fruits and hops. Its well-balanced flavours are dominated by malty and fresh cereals tastes, completed by a delicate bitterness. All of this makes the Paienne an inviting and thirst-quenching beer offering at the same time satisfying tastes and a generous body.

Bottle, 34.1cL. Home. A golden light opaque beer with a medium white head ; ok retention and lacing. Caramel, herb, cereal, candied fruits. Medium dry bitter lasting refreshing, light sweet, light acid. Medium body, light to medium oily texture, average carbonation, dry bitter refreshing finish. Overall, enjoyable.

Appearance: clear pale straw with one finger of fluffy white head diminishing gradually to a thin ring, spotty lacing. (3/5) Aroma: crackery malt, light lemon and floral. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-light bitter. (6/10) Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry mildly bitter finish. (3/5) Fairly bland but also a bit elderly for the style. Probably my fault for not checking the date before buying, but it was in a cooler, so ultimately I’m not sure how much damage has been done by age. Might try again if I find it fresher. (12/20)

Tap at DDC. Slightly hazy bright amber with off-white head. Perfectly adequate, a good quencher, probably lovely to have by the pint - a citric sweetish brew with herbal notes and moderately bitter finish. Very good for a change.

Tap at brewery. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma has corn, lemon, honey, light butter... Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Lemon, light floral soap, honeycomb, orange pith, light caramel. OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Golden color, good foam. Aroma: malt, raisins and a little nectar. Taste: pleasant, malts, fruit, slightly bitter hops, drinkable.

Slightly hazy golden color with some powerful activity. Creamy white 2 finger head lasting around 15 minutes with some strong legs. Aromas and flavors of fruits, grains, citrus, honey, floral and herbal spices. Great balanced taste of sweet honey, apple, orange with a dash of sharp lemon. Pleasant floral smell and biscuity feel. Slick medium body with perfect carbonation. Balanced finish of moderate length ending with some strong bitter herbal spices giving a saazy grassy feel on the tongue. Overall : Very good craft; inviting smell and a good balanced taste with crispy freshness. The only flaw I see is the long and strong spicy finish for a blonde making this beer a little less accessible.

Had this a few times and I can’t figure out why. First had on 3.29.14. Smell is old malt and some floral. Flavor is moldy earth and stale beer. Meh.
