Thanks to Tommy for sending a bottle my way! Pours out a fairly viscous, deep dark brown with decent tan foam. Aroma on this beer is quite nice - tons of fresh bitter coffee, a touch of vanilla and bourbon, and some rich chocolate malt. Flavor is not quite as nice as the aroma indicates - still lots of coffee, but it’s a touch weaker and more bitter than in the regular peche. The barrel characteristic is subtle, but noticible. The flavor has all the right pieces, but for whatever reason doesn’t come together as well as in my favorite BA coffee stouts (bourbon county, KBS). BB Peche is a touch dry and closer to medium bodied than full bodied.

Tap, been wanting this for a long time and I finally get to try this! Black color with beige head. Aroma is coffee, touch vanilla. Taste is coffee, a touch caramel, vanilla, super-balanced, no flavour overpowers the others. Medium carbonation, oily moutfeel. Massive beer, the barrel lifts the heavy coffee dryness of Péché Mortel without making it a Bourbon Bomb. Amazing stuff, masterpiece even.

Finally got to tick a beer I’ve chased for about 8 years, and it was good but not stellar. In this landscape, with beers like BCBCS, this beer is a bit oppressively bourbony for my liking. I’d rather drink rather Peche Mortel. It’s still great, but it’s not legendary.

Solidne.

Shelton 2017. Pours a deep and oily black with thin ring of tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild bourbon and sweet vanilla notes over big hits of coffee and roast. Taste is even more of the roast and dark coffee notes, with a mild bourbon barrel kick on the back end. Very nice balance, booze is well hidden, good stuff.
