Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Helt svart med beige skum. Masse kaffe sammen med sjokolade, lakris og noen brente toner. Kunne ønsket meg noe tykkere munnfølelse.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Aroma is intense roasted malts and coffee, dark chocolate, more than inviting aroma.Taste is heavy roasted malts, add some good dry fruity hops, plus velvety mouthfeel, makes this as smooth as there is, lovely sipper, very close to the perfect beer for this guy, with lovely liquorice lingering along burnt and roasted malts, dry resiny hops on top of all, very good beer to celebrate the start of my 2 week holiday.

Rich stout with great blend of coffee and beer flavor. Palate is creamy with lingering coffee taste. Delicious beer, but it is heavy, definitely only one at a time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a medium tan head. The nose is very roasted while being supplemented with strong chocolate and coffee. I get a little bit of cinnamon from the aroma as well. The taste is heavily bitter with just the slightest sweet touch. The flavor of coffee is extremely powerful, which helps to explain the amount of bitterness found. It has a roasted foundation and undertones of vanilla, chocolate, and smokey hints. It tastes a little burnt at the end, though the coffee lingers in the aftertaste also. Full bodied, with a creamy texture, and flat in carbonation. The alcohol content doesn’t jump out at you, but I do get a mild alcohol burn here. Quite simply, this one is exceptional.

Aromat bardzo intensywny, zdominowany kawą, zieloną, ziarnistą. W smaku pełne, również wyraźnie kawowe, nieco ziarniste, nuta gorzkiej czekolady w tle. Na dłuższa metę męczące.

Pours pitch black, small tan head. In nose coffee and coffee only. Roasty, some burned bread, bit of alcohol. Very bitter, medium body, lively.

Just fabulous. Bottle from Jug Shop, San Francisco. Alcohol quite well hidden by the malt body. Would gladly drink again, but Equinoxe de Printemps is better, and sweeter. VERY strong coffee presence!
