4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
The best coffee flavor I’ve ever had in a beer. Dark rich appearance with a dark roasted espresso flavor with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Some breakfast beers try to capture the entire breakfast, this one just perfectly captures that first cup of Joe in the morning.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Heavy and very persistent aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is very bitter and leaves a stong coffee-like finish, carbonation is average to soft and texture is quite thick. I left it a while outside the fridge before opening but it was still better after a while, so probably the ideal temperature of consumption is around 10-12º. While I’m not a huge fan of imperial stouts, I have to admit this is a very solid beer with a strong coffee accent.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl @ bottle. Davvero un’ottima Imperial stout. Bella schiuma cremosa, caffé e cacao al naso, nonostante la gradazione si beve molto facilmente. Ottima.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Redstone Liquors, Stoneham. Appearance is opaque black with less-than-finger-width light brown and slightly red head with poor retention and light lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with coffee, bordering on burnt/ash, dark chocolate. Taste is up front bitter roasted malts and coffee with subtle dark fruit and dark chocolate in the middle and ending strong bitter burnt/ash. Palate is medium bodied with thick, silky texture; soft carbonation and bitter roasted/burnt/ash finish. Overall, while I like smoke and hints of ash and burnt character, this was a little too forward and dominated the experience. I was so looking forward to this and, while still very good, am a little bummed.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells like a big ball of chocolate-covered, well-roasted coffee beans! Of course it’s pitch black—it’s called mortal sin for crying out loud! Tastes of dark roast coffee from beginning to end with a powerful, smoky espresso finish. Arrives mostly sweet with dried fruits & chocolates and then moves towards a roasty/smoky end. Dark fruits intensify as it warms up but still subtle compared to the coffee. With time the espresso intensity grows and lingers in the finish. Seriously, the alcohol is masked by all that strong coffee until it warms up. The medium body, dry finish, & absence of carbonation fits this beer perfectly. If you’re into huge, flavorful coffee, then this beer is your dream come true. One criticism, though, is that the dominance of coffee perhaps makes this beer one-dimensional after a few sips.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Usually don’t like to let coffee stouts sit around but this has been fridged for a long time. Pleasant, not overpowering coffee nose, pours a touch thin looking. Doesn’t taste it - not overly roasty but bitter, still has a lot of nice coffee flavor. Gonna have to restock on a few of these.
