Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Pours jet black with an inch of light brown head into the snifter. The aroma and taste was dominated by thick, chewy coffee beans. Some chocolate made its way in during the finish. An excellent desert beer.

Flesje van 2013. Kleur is heel donker bruin-zwart.

Postgusto a licor, café y chocolate. Delicia.

På fat på brygg, oslo. Ugjennomsiktig svart med kremaktig karamellhode. Lukter av julekake, kaffe, mørksjokolade, brent toffee. Smaker av marsipan, mer sjokolade, litt røyk.

Jet black pour with a single finger espresso head. Aroma is a bit boozy along with some choclate. Medium bodied. Taste is bitter, finishes pretty strongly with ash and a little raisin. Lots of lace. Lingering bitterness. A hint of chocolate here and there. Loads of flavor.

Black body with average-sized, long-lasting, brown head that laces the glass well. Strong aroma that is very dominated by coffee. Also dark roasted malt, and dark caramel, and chocolate in the back. Strong flavour that follows the aroma. Moderate sweet taste with a heavy bitter finish. Full body, creamy texture, very soft carbonation. A very nice imperial stout, but a bit too dominated by the coffee.

341ml bottle from kanata.fr. Black colour with mocha head. Big dark roasted malts, big bitter dark roasted coffee, big ristretto, big roast, ash, dark fruits, sweetish dark malt start + bitter espresso finish. Full body despite fairly low abv for the style. Super coffee forward, very nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Tom. Brown black with a beige head. Smell of coffee, ash, tobacco, licorice. Heavy sweet, coffee, licorice, alcohol, spicy, bitter finish, light acidity, a bit unbalanced. Medium-full bodied.
