Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

pours an oily black with a thick light brown head. aroma is sweet and balanced of coffee and chocolate. first sip is strong of coffee, but as the beer warms, there are more noticeable flavors of hops, chocolate, a little bit of pepper, and spice. mouth is close to perfect, simply smooth on the tongue. I’m a big fan of coffee stout so when I saw this at Whole Foods and immediatly knew it had to be a winner.

Cybuch (654) - Muszyna, POLAND - FEB 16, 2018
W aromacie kawa, nuty palone, gorzka czekolada, kakao i delikatna nuta wiśniowa. Bardzo przyjemny i intensywny. Barwa czarna, piana beżowa, ładna, utrzymująca się. W smaku mocno palone, kawowe, wytrawne z lekkimi przebłyskami słodyczy. Brakuje trochę gęstości, ale nie jest wodniste. Alkohol lekko wyczuwalny na finiszu. Wysycenie niskie. Bardzo dobry stout, po wytrawnej, palonej stronie mocy.

Bottle Aroma-caramel, chocolate, coffee, nuts Appearance-brown, clear, brown foam, Taste-medium bitterness, light sweetness, lightly sour, Palate-full body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish, Overall- very good

Bitek (899) - Warszawa, POLAND - FEB 11, 2018
Kawa, troszkę ciemnych owoców, popiół, alkohol. Treściwość w okolicach średniej, dość wytrawne. Gładkie, nisko wysycone. Wysoka, agresywna goryczka. W porządku, chociaz trochę jednowymiarowe i zaskakująco gorzkie.

Dark brown almost no head. Huge coffee grounds aroma. Not much else comes through. Big bitter coffee taste, again not getting much else. Probably the fact that I had 2 great barrel aged imperial stouts before this one doesn't help how one sided I'm finding this. Long bitter dark coffee taste, what else? Must be the order in which I drank stouts tonight, because while this one IS unbalanced with its ftw coffee flavor, its not bad. Thanks for sharing Lore!

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Black body with a brown head. Aroma and taste of mostly coffee with chocolate and spicy hops. Nice RIS.

Lore (3023) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 10, 2018
Dark brown colour, minimal beige head; aroma and taste of heavy roasted coffee, some dark chocolate and maybe dried cherry; good one

tomekboniek (982) - Warsaw, POLAND - FEB 10, 2018
Butelka. Barwa smoliście czarna. Piana beżowa, niska, szybko znika. Kawa, dużo nut palonych. W trakcie ogrzewania coraz więcej. Czekoladowe praliny, orzechy włoskie. Konsystencja oleista, lepka. Ekstremalnie pijalne, świetnie ukryty alkohol. Nuta orzechów fajnie dominuje. świetne piwo i super cenie.

thejackpacker (764) - East Sussex, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2018
Tap at Bishops Arms Uppsala. The smell is divine like nesquick, chocolate and slight tobacco. Slightly sour taste but overall lvoerlyyy.
