3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Pitch black body. Thin khaki head. Nice retention of the head cap. Spotty lacing.
S: Rich roasted coffee. Dense. Like walking into a local coffee shop. Its not simply one blend. Complex and invigorating. Hints of coffee and caramel.
T: Doesn’t quite live up to the nose... but thats something I find quite common with these upper level imperial stouts... the nose tends to to be the stand out feature. But this certainly is no slouch. Rich coffee, espresso, chocolate, roasted caramel and a ever so slight hint of alcohol.
M: Smooth. Ideal carbonation. Excellent lingering aftertaste.
O: Perhaps the most drinkable imperial stout I’ve had that has this much coffee in it.
Merci beaucoup, Brasserie Dieu du Ciel!

Beautiful smell of vanilla, choco and cocoa. Otherwise good but lacks texture (porter density). It is Very bitter, especially for dark beer. ALIBALI (2122) - Kiel, GERMANY - JUL 21, 2017
Charmant brutal!!! Bean & Röst Pepper Animal ??!!! Aber auch nicht outstanding. Fassware im MUTED HORN Berlin. bonev (780) - POLAND - JUL 20, 2017
Piwo czarne z lekko bezowa piana w postaci cienkiej obraczki na szkle. Mocna dawka palonosci i kawy. Jest wytrawne z intensywna goryczka i wysyceniem na dosc niskim poziomie. Troche lukrecji i lekki alkohol ogrzewa gardlo. Brakuje jednak zdecydowanie ciala i intensywnosci. garroch (58) - New York, USA - JUL 18, 2017
On tap at rattle n hum east. Pours deep black with a dark tan head that settles to a thin layer and sticks around. Nose is mainly chocolate and vanilla. Taste is black coffee, vanilla, bourbon sweetness. Finish is coffee, vanilla, and a lingering boozy burn. Medium to heavy body. Really smooth mouth feel, fine and light carbonation. This is legitimate beer.

On tap at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal on 8th July 2017. Absolutely pitch black with thick tan foam and full lacing. Fresh coffee aroma. Rich and intense ’shot’ of coffee in-mouth, with a solid roasty, chocolate taste. A hint of plum and touch of smoke. A rich, lengthy finish of bitter chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Full bodied with a very smooth mouthfeel. Absolutely exquisite. WillemsUrenkel (1877) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - JUL 6, 2017
0,341 ml bottle from a beer store in the neighbourhood of the brewery. Pours out really oily and BLACK with a big beige head. Smell is strong coffee and dark choco.Taste starts the same, some dark berriefruity in the background. Very smooth, totally hidden alcohol. Some sweetness and vanilla in the second row. Great stuff! Bottle from K&L in Redwood City, CA (Dated 04-27-2016). Aroma is coffee, coffee liquor, burnt toffee, dark chocolate covered licorice. Taste is tangy coffee upfront with a licorice belt line, then some cherry vanilla business in the middle, followed by bitter coffee on the finish. Excellent chewy licorice but ultimately surprised at the amount of coffee flavor considering this is over a year old. biir (1363) - Berlin, - JUL 2, 2017
