As black as ebony, this is the ancestor of the stout. Wiser, the roasted flavours are in harmony with the malt and caramel tastes. The distinct presence of the hops units all of these wonderful elements.

12 ounces on tap at brewpub. Aroma: smokey rosted malt, light chocolate and coffee. App: dark brown to black, small frothy moka head leaving great lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, smooth, light sweetness, medium roasted and bitter finish. Overall: really good. Enjoyed the mouthfeel quite a lot. Really smooth. My palate is happy to be pet by this smoothness. Really easy to drink.

July 20, 2015. On tap at Dieu du Ciel.
Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted coffee, some tobacco, leather, ash, chocolate, Taste is light to medium sweet with malty toffee and some fruity notes, roasted bitterness with coffee, some ash, cocoa and hints of leather with a dry finish. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation.
Good, but a bit too dry ashy finish.

Pours dark and black as night, pretty thick with a creamy and lacey darker beige head. Aroma is quite nice with roasted chestnuts, hazelnuts, and a dash of mocha. Body is so awesomely creamy with nice roasted and toasted malt flavors balanced and tame with a nice sweetness that doesn’t linger long.

Draft at the source in Montreal. Smells heavenly of roasted coffee, brownie, burnt dark malt. Taste isn’t as potent as aroma, but follows closely. Tasty stuff that’d I’d highly recommend.

Sample from Dave at bar, pours brownish black. Chalk, roast, and nuts were the most discerning notes to this brew. Mouthfeel is soft silk. Really nice.

Draft at Dieu du ciel with Linh, Minh and Angela. Pours a deep brown body with thick off white lacing. Aroma is dry and roasty. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of bitter chocolate, super dry roast and light hop. Very nice roasty Porter.
