Strong brown ale inspired by the beer brewed by Belgian Trappist monks. Very little bitterness, this beer has intense malty and sweet flavours, mixed with the taste of chocolate and caramel. It presents complex red fruit and spice flavours due to the type of yeast that is used during the brewing process. This beer is at its best only after it has aged for six months. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

Rigor Mortis Abt is brewed only once a year, and is sold in April until stocks last.

A very unique beer that drinks more like a strong brown ale with the yeasty, complex character of an abt.

Agtronic (33) - Laval, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 14, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2018 Pours a dark saturated copper colour, with a generous 2-finger head. Aroma is potent and lively. Dark ripe fruit, raisins with a slight metallic touch. Little to no yeast. Flavor is dark fruit, medium to high sweetness. Alcohol is present, but very soft in character. No sign of the hot alcohol "bite" that often accompanies beers this high in alcohol. Not really picking up on any Belgian yeast character. Overall, I loved the aroma of the beer, and the flavor is great, but I found it a touch too sweet. I was really shocked at how well the alcohol was hidden. Great sipper for when you're sitting by the fire during a Canadian winter.

Iced tea brown with a thin head and a dark fruit nose. Well-carbonated and somewhat malty with dark fruit, brown sugar sweetness and some warming in the finish.

Amen, man.

Solid Abt, but still prefer the Belgian ones. Medium carbonation. Some bitterness, esters, yeasty fruit.

On tap @ What's Brewing 17, vintage 2014. Pours hazy maroon, with a creamy head. Aroma is tart fruity malts with bread and caramels. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is fruity malts with bread and toffee.

Bottle from AJ’s Beer Warehouse. Aroma of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, chocolate and caramel.

brian.b (22) - - AUG 3, 2017
Good brew. It has a bright front end. The finish is smooth, but lacks the deep flavor notes of a top tier quadruple like St. Bernardus or Rochefort. Overall a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown opaque with just a little beige foam. An aroma of dark fruit add rich malts. The flavor brings even more dark fruit. Dates and raisins. Alcohol is also tasted and it comes close to over powering the other flavors.
