Tap at Mondial 2010. Pours a hazed dull pink and nice white head- fades a bit from the acidity. Aroma is lacto, funk, wheat, light toast, bread, acidic with berry fruits, blueberry, light old musty blackberry, strawberry and a green skinned gooseberry with slight aceto. Flavor is more tartness, aceto backed by a crackery cereal base light wheat malts, red wine vinegar over berries, blackberries, rasp, gooseberry, and even green grape skins light tannin- almost blush rose wine, light tannin and slight astringent grape skin, and pitty mineral from the fruit- acidic, but a bit messy with the fruit and there is a touch aceto. Would benefit from more aging if there were no aceto.

In short: A very lactic and moderately tart fruity Berliner Weisse. A good beer but a relative disappointment
How: Tap at Montreal Mondial de la Bière 2010
The look: Cloudy dirty pink body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose is fruity but not really blackberries. I noted strawberries, blackberries, kiwis, more… The one thing that stroke me about the taste is how lactic the beer was, almost milky. Overall the taste is moderately tart, with strong lactic notes, a bid muddy and with the aforementioned fruits. No real sourness and no intensity. I much preferred the other fruit Berliner Weisses from DDC (Solstice d’Été aux Framboises, Solstice d’Été aux Cerises). I love blackberries but they just come out weak and rather muddy in that type of beer. Blackberry was probably not the best choice for this beer. Maybe iPhone would have been a better choice.

on tap at at le mondiale. hazy very light yellow pour, with next to no head. Aroma of sour wheat, and slight citrus flavors. The body is a tad bi watery, and the sourness really hags around in the finish.

A red grapefruit coloured weisse, hazed, with a thin white head. A pleasant fruity aroma of sour cherries, lactic notes, sweet berry jam. In mouth, a smooth lactic sweet berry taste, with light milky notes, acidic points, refreshing summer brew. On tap at Mondiale de la Bière 2010.

From tap @ mondial. Pretty pinkish/purple pour with some pink head. Very lactic aroma, some grape and blackberry coming to my nose. Taste is quite tart, some sour fruit juice but mainly a pimped up berliner weiss. Lots of sour wheaty characteristics. Palate is slightly fizzy and very refreshing. I liked it quite a bit, but not nearly as much as the cherry one.

4oz from tap at Mondial 2010
Appearance : Hazy pale red, small head.
Aroma : Fruity amd a bit sour and acidic. A bit herbal (like when eating blackberries that are not yet ready ; still green). Some wheat.
Taste : Light tart, a bit acidic and fruity. Some blackberries. Dry. Some wheat. Acidic finish.
Overall : Not as good as the other Solstice d’été. This one could have used a bit more fruits and a bit more tartness. Felt a bit weak. Mouthfeel was fun.

Drank on day 2 of the 2010 Mondial de la Bière. Color pink grapefruit (somebody ask me what it was and was realy surprised it was a Dieu du Ciel beer), little head. Aroma of verry sweet blackberries sweet and a little sour. Tartness and fruity blackberries taste, not even very sour, not much aftertaste. IMO, not the best of the Solstice d’Été (note I never hade the blueberry one)!

My Bottom Line:
This very lactic, gum-drying Berliner Weisse offers a few blackberry flavors and polite tartness in a plump body studded with light grain flavors.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy dark pink.
-The blackberry and sour mash harmony is not as exemplary as that brought forth by sour cherries or raspberries.
-Even though this is quite tart, it doesn’t develop much sourness.
-The most obvious fruit character would be citrusy/lemony.

On tap at the Mondial.

tastes at the mondial de bière 2010 in Montreal. pours a ruby red with a nice pink head that quickly dissipates. aroma is blackberries, cherries, wheat, and yeast. taste is sour. not at all sweet. a delicious and refreshing beer from Dieu du Ciel.
