"tried this once when the mood hot for a malty dark. not bad, not great. it satisfied the craving. about average for the style, but i generally like dunkels, so it’s an above average beer. a little on the unassuming side."

Bottle. Light molasses malt and vinegar aroma. Light clear brown color with small head. Strong dark malt flavor - slightly burnt flavor - strong acidity and moderate carbonation - tastes much stronger than the aroma and appearance would lead you to believe. A perkier dunkel - much more sharp tasting than is typical for the style. hopscotch (11048) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 1, 2004
Crystal clear, deep amber lager with a frothy, khaki-colored head. Decent retention. Nice lacing. Malty aroma with notes of maple syrup, honey, kiwi fruit and caramel.
Good malty brew with good balance. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, astringent, dry finish. I'll go against the grain here and say this one is terrific for a lager! j12601 (10930) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 14, 2008
Bottle. Pours an almost cola brown, which was an ironic bit of foreshadowing, with a thin white head. Aroma of very sweet malt, and little else. The slight malt taste carries over to the mouth where it is joined with a good deal more soda like sweetness and an incredibly thin watery body. Finish is a bit of a letdown too, and features a slight metallic tang. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

clear dark brown, whispy head, sweet carmel malt aroma, strong malt flavor, slightly sweet, touch of chocolate, no hop character, just a hint of bitterness in the finish
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 10/20

Pours dark brown with aroma of some dark malt, slight nuts and chocoff. Light palate, and lacking in balance and complexity. DuffMan (10271) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2007
Dark brown, golden at the edges, average whitish head. Sweet caramel aroma, perhaps a little bready. Straightforward caramel malt palate, brown sugar perhaps. Not bad, flavourful but not terribly complex. Maybe mine was too cold... marcus (10145) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 29, 2007
This brown ale poured with a miniscule tan head. There is a sweet caramel malt flavor, with a slightly bitter finish. A very undistinguished dunkel beer. SudsMcDuff (8383) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2006 ya, bought this for prof blunt’s 23th birthday...this is not a good present folks, its an average dunkel but it is quite easy down the throat, maybe i should have just bought something at least to say wow, this made me say cow..fuck, u see what shitty beer makes me write. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAY 6, 2006
Draft at Prost. Big off-white head, nice deep brown, ruby-toned body. Clean and straightforward and easy to drink like a lager, but also somewhat unsatisfying that way with such a light body--the lager dilemma (you have to be in the mood, probably). Very thin flavor, but still tasty enough if you take a big pull from the glass.
