2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Sippin by the River ’05. Rich, fresh, clean, dunkles. Enjoyable and a good alternative to the many fest beers out there these days.

"tried this once when the mood hot for a malty dark. not bad, not great. it satisfied the craving. about average for the style, but i generally like dunkels, so it’s an above average beer. a little on the unassuming side."

Dunkelbraun, reichlich Schaum. Malzbetonter Geschmack nach Karamell, Toffee und Nüssen. Solides Dunkel, wenn auch etwas langweilig.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle- Pours a dark brown color with a off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, some caramel sweetness and hint of fruit. Flavor is a mixture of roasted malt and a bit of caramel sweetness. Mild bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, smooth and creamy, nice balance. Easy drinker, good for a few.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2013 11.2 oz green bottle, I’m hoping for no skunkage.
It pours a dark brown with a hint of reddich/orange/gold. The head is fizzy and off-white.
The smell is classic, no skunk here. It has caramel, cocoa, and dark bread. Along with this is some honey and some light husky grain. I’m not really smelling any hops.
The flavor is excellent, everything you want in a dunkel. It is smooth and caramally with some cocoa, raisin, and munich malts. The hops are present in the flavor and add a little zest to it.
It is extremely drinkable. A winner.

Like a slightly thicker Warsteiner Dunkel in every way, a little bit better malty flavor, just not anything better than a little better than average.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
12oz bottle. Translucent amber-brown color. Minimal soda-like head. I’d have to guess the bottle was old. Pungent, devolved dark malt tones. On the light side of medium bodied. Some toffee tones. Cheap Eastern-European dark beer. Probably way better fresh, certainly not one to age.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2010 On tap; brown beer. Aroma of hops and caramel. Taste subtle coffee and toffee notes. I really liked this beer; not quite as good as othe German dunkels though. Updated 07-20/ Tried again. not as good as I remember, good cocoa and toffee notes but quite bitter at the end. Better german dunkels out there

Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is grain, apple, skunk, sweet malt, and is like cereal. Taste is faint nuttiness , skunk, grain, and an unpleasant sweetness. Not very good, some roast but this beer is mostly weak and cheap.

Clear copper pour, no head, some lace. Little to no aroma. Very flat, sweet caramel flavor, not much going for this. Tastes like a wimpy Newcastle Brown
