A rather odd combination of flavors for a lager. Tastes much more like a stout, and I would prefer a good stout to this.

Dixie Blackened Voodoo - Mixed six pack from Mike’s Food Mart, enjoyed at Mayan Import Company on Magazine St. Great place where you can just sit out front smoking and drinking. Even some of the people inside were going next door to get glasses of wine. Love how much New Orleans lets grown ups be grown ups. The atmosphere improves this beer dramatically. If regular Dixie is Lone Star of NO, this is the Shiner Bock, but a bit richer and more deeply and sweetly flavorful. When I first tried this back in 90’s it was one of my favorites ever. Now I’ve been “jaded” by so many incredible brews swished through my mouth it does not blow my mind so much. I’d recommend it to any 18 year old to start their education in flavors, beer history and adulthood in general. Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a clear, nutty brown with a lacing, beige head. Nose has subtle burned caramel. Medium body, very soft on the palate. Again burned caramel, subdued roast, slightly nutty with a hint of cardboard. There's not an awful lot going on here, but it's a decent little drinker in it's own right. 241117

From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Bubbly tan head. Mild toasted malt aroma. Sweet caramel-like roasted malt flavor. Some herbal hops. Pleasant malty aftertaste. Decent flavor but lacks complexity.

Dark and some chocolate with raw nuts. Not bad, difficult to find in my area, but if you cannot find it you are not missing out on much.

Good brown lager. Nice color. Nutty. Sweet. Light syrup not a bad thing. Hazelnut flavor. No roastedness. Fizzy.

Bottle to glass. Clear copper-orange with moderate, retained head. Grainy and slightly metallic nose. Faint orange and a little sea weed. Taste starts as faint caramel but quickly falls apart in the second half. There is a dishwater aspect with General huskiness as though the mash was dialed way too high for style. Slight ash.
