English:: "Hjul & Stejle" is an old execution method called "The Wheel" in English which was often used for blasphemers and the like. Christmas is a time ripe with beliefs and myths - yet belief in Jesus, Santa Claus and angels ought to be a thing of the past. We symbolically execute Santa Claus and the like and propose a toast in Hjul & Stejle: A beer where the clean hop bitternes and distinctive flavour of rye malt is balanced by the dry, spicy contribution from Brettanomyces at work. Hjul & Stejle is a good match for any Christmas lunch - whether you believe or not! Launched november 2009.

Hazy amber.Aroma of cloves, lemon zest and funky sourness. Fresh spicy taste, a litte sour, with a hoppy bitterness cutting through, not exactly your average X-mas-beer, Served cold, it has its own warmth all though rather reserved in its immediate appearance.

Draught at Monks Porterhouse, Stockholm. Pours out in a hazy amber colour with a small creamy white head. Strong aroma of brett, yeast and lemon-zest with hints of dough, caramel, red currant, peat and white pepper. Weird but interesting! Medium-bodied with semi-dry notes of brett, dough, peat, lemon-zest, currant-leaves, nut-shells and orange-peels. Long semi-dry finish of brett, paint, yeast, jasmine and over-riped red grapefruits. Funny, almost bizarre stuff!

Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Golden body with a small white head. Aroma of malt, citric fruits and a hint of Bret. Flavor is mild malty, citric fruity, light hoppy, spicy and Bret. A bit unusually but it works, easy to drink and exiting flavor.

Bottle. Golden orange pour. Aroma has bread, brett, sugar, corriander and cinnamon along with malt and some faint hops. Taste is very alike with a moderate sweetness, spices and some brett-stuff along with it. Interesting and challenging.
