Mild smoke nose. Pale hwad. Slightly hazy pale golden color. Slightly sour taste. Mild hops. Mild smoke taste. Well balanced beer. TorbenJensen (1586) - Valby, DENMARK - JUL 24, 2015
It’s a nice frothy ale. It has distinct smoke flavor and a distinctive aroma of Brett. Brett yeast is not to be mistaken. It has the sour, barn-like finish that will get many beer drinkers to flee far away - but as yet has been so popular among brewers in recent years. I think Brett can be abused, and I’ve tasted awful examples of how not to use it, but its character is fine in contrast to other distinctive ingredients such as smoked malt. Here the brewer managed to unite smoke and Brett in a cohesion where the smoke is not too rich and heavy, and where Brett only have room to leave a pleasant dryness in the beer followed by a comfortable amount of acid. In between you will find a little tentative notes of fresh berries and otherwise a fine brewed and different ale which is nice complex. AndySnow (8305) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - OCT 10, 2014

Backlog. Love most of their beers, this isn’t one of my favourites though.. Ernest (7888) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen (BB Aug 2014). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is light amber. Aroma is notes of smoke, bile, rotting vegetables, plastic. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation. A badly infected batch. Utterly and completely undrinkable. Wouldn’t have even rated it, but noticed others have been having the same experience so it’s not a one-off bottle.

500 ml bottle shared with czar, thanks mate. Pours a foggy orange with a resilient white head. Aroma is smokey, whiskey. Flavor is meat, a touch of sugar, malted cereals, salt. Mostly tart finish, not quite bitter, if not for a touch of lemon. Lingering tart and lemon flavor. Medium body, medium to strong carbonation. Alright, no more. Out of the ordinary, although that may not quite be a good thing... czar (9601) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 13, 2013
pours muddy orange with a frothy off-white head, good retention and lacing. bacony-smoky, fruity metal, minerals, hint of wheat, peppery, tons of yeasts, light acidity, acrid berries and oxidated tobacco. average carbonation, light body - watery, grassy-yeasty-lightly acidic finish. unique and awkward - umamied smoke and acrid acidity. very unpleasant and simply horrid. Aroma has grainy malt, some caramel and distant smoky notes. Flavour has caramel, some smoke and grain. Palate is too high on CO2. Quite light on smoke and quite boring too.
