COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

English: Old Mephisto is a big beer: Full, warming and intense. Old Mephisto offers balanced sweetness, roasted caramel and a rounded bitterness - all held together by the vinous character. The inviting brandy coloured Old Mephisto can be enjoyed with strong cheeses, full game dishes or on its own.

Enjoyit (3809) - Vadum, DENMARK - AUG 14, 2008
Dark amber of color with a orange head. An aroma of dark fruits, liqurice, port notes, pines, chocolate and caramel. Very nice aroma! A flavor of pines, caramel, chocolate, raisins, malty and hops.

Psykling (17) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 18, 2008
Head and aroma promises strenght and warmth - and the taste sure delivers! Just one complaint: why such big glasses when served on tap? Almost too much. Taste is all strength, warming alcohol, with a bit of zinging burnt malt, butterscotch and port. Palate is almost acid-like in contact with tongue, and yet again concentrated around the alcohol. Overall, alcohol plays a central role in this brew, as in most Barley Wines - but I must say that this is the most enjoyable I’ve had in a long time, despite it’s rawness.

Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2008
Mahogany-red with a huge, nice, creamy and lasting head. The aroma is alluring and spreads upon opening. It has notes of roasted malt, caramel, pine, dark fruits like figs and raisin. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, a touch of pine and alcohol and some raisin at the end. The aroma did promise more that the flavour had to offer, but it’s nice, and it probably will age nicely.

Yet another good beer from this brewery. Fruity aroma and a flavor with much volume - sweet, but not overly.

MiP (15960) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2008
Draught at ÅBF08. Cloudy red brown colour. Very small head. Good flavourful beer. Good mouthfeel. Slightly spicy flavour. Very pleasant though you might want more out of the ABV.

Pinball (12213) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 2, 2008
Bottle, 33cl. Best Before: judgement day (lol - label says so!). my first barley wine.. flavor was mostly alcohol, but beneath the strong alc, i got a well compsed well balanced unidentified taste, sort of like cognac or wihskey, but less bitter and more like fruit juice. Interesting brew, my first of its kind, and although i don’t like aged beer, this one is good. sophisticated.

skortila (5966) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 31, 2008
Tap @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Aroma has some ginger, raisin, wine. Copper, amber coloured beer with an off-white head. Taste is sweet, malty, bitsugary with some rasin and wine. Really nice.

caesar (7170) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2008
Tap @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Hazy red brown color, short head. Sweetish raisin taste. Not really strong, but quite alcoholic still.

3.7
ante (3373) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 24, 2008
Bottled. Pours out in a deep reddish amber colour with fluffy disappearing off-white foam. Loads id spices in the aroma with dense malts underneath. Hints of ginger, mint, white pepper and alcohol with sweet undertones of caramel and dried fruits. Full-bodied with notes of caramel, earth, wood, nut-shells, pepper and alcohol. Fudge and caramel in the dense long finish with strong bitter peppery, minty and earthy notes. A Uk-style BW with a lot of attitude. Rather young and rough, definitely has some aging potential.

2.3
Bragesnak (5394) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2008
Ølfestival, Aarhus, DK. On tap. 170508. Alcoholic with a very spiced character
